Natural alternatives to viagra and other w...

shyherdier's Photo shyherdier 03 Jan 2016

I haven't tried viagra because I'm afraid of it having unpleasant side effects. I have high blood pressure as well so it's probably not a good idea. The reason I wanted to get viagra was because I can't have intercourse properly with anyone. On average, I only get sufficiently horny enough to want intercourse once a week, and if I masturbate in between then it destroys my sex drive for days. I know this is all fairly normal for one with an existing low sex drive. Mine was probably brought on from depression and social anxiety. The problem is that when I do attempt intercourse (after abstaining masturbation for at least 5 days to build up enough desire) I lose my erection.

What are some immediate dietary or supplement suggestions to help boost libido and prevent losing erections?

As for the root causes of the problem: masturbation/porn, bad nutrition, depression, anxiety etc. These all take time to change habits and experiment for the best things that work. There's a lot of threads here that I'll be reading around.

Also it would be helpful if someone could tell me the link between ejaculation and losing energy/motivation for the next following days. I've had this since I was a teenager. A quick Google search revealed that a lot of men have it, but there are no substantive reasons for why, so I was hoping someone here could explain the science behind it, and why some guys are affected by it and other guys (who have the ability to ejaculate multiple times in a day) are not affected.

For the second issue maybe look into reducing prolactin (for eg gingko, p5p/b6, ...)
For the first issue (and also a libido booster /anti depression and anxiolitic) take a look at agmatine, it's cheap and might work at low doses.

Have tried gingko in the past, it seemed to intensify my stress and anxiety. It had an almost a psychotic effect, really. Will look into agmatine. Are there any good food sources for this or must I get supplements?

The agmatine is available at powder city, very cheap, not sure about food sources, but probably not worth it. Worth a shot, I feel as low as 100mg ed after a week, no need to go for 1g etc...

A few things come to mind:

1) Exercise regularly, start off gradually but stay consistent

2) A diet with plenty of NO rich foods (ie. leafy greens, beats, etc.)

3) Get that blood pressure under control (ie. medication maybe, meditation, stress reduction)

4) Ditch the porn

5) Get a hormonal palet done (ie. testosterone, estrogen, prolactin, etc.)

6) Increase dopamine - in general, anything that increases dopamine increased libido and erectile function

7) Get some sunlight

I participate in another board called peak testosterone - the forum there is really active and has lots of people in shoes similar to yours.  Their bias is to opt of TRT/HRT, but many people there do not.

I'm a chronic video gamer and I thought that meant my dopamine levels would be high, since I have the drive and ability to play and concentrate for hours at a time. Turns out that gaming may actually be lowering my dopamine. Should I supplement with Tyrosine to increase dopamine? I've heard that this can have an opposite effect for some people and make them more stressed and tired. Apparently ginkgo increases dopamine, which like I said above I have tried it and it intensified my stress and anxiety. So I don't know...

What is NO?

Keep in mind that libido and the ability to get and maintain an erection are two separate things.  Sex drive is more directly related to testosterone levels.

For increasing sex drive there's nothing like regular exercise, especially H.I.T weight lifting.

I'd also recommend Agamatine as superior to L-Arginine and other natural alternatives frequently cited, including Maca, Tribulus Terristiris , Epimedium, and Yohimbine.

I have no experience with other herbs supposed to raise testosterone and they are too numerous to cite but here's a page of info that isn't too bad.  http://www.anabolicm...e-booster-guide.  Bottom line is if you want to raise testosterone, there's nothing like taking testosterone; but, of course, that isn't a recommendation and comes with many other issues.

Finally, Pde 5 inhibitors, like Viagra, do not increase sex drive directly.  Also, Viagra doesn't increase blood pressure, it increases the blood pressure lowering effects of nitrates.  Daily low dose use of another pde 5 inhibitor, Cialis, can lower blood pressure in healthy adults.

This isn't a recommendation, but before you waste a ton of money on herbs that don't work like drugs, if I were you I'd just try a half dose of Viagra.
