So, I'm new to nootropics, less than a week new. A few days ago I bought some Noopept and DMAE, the MindNutrition brand.

The first few days I didn't really notice any effects at all, aside from a mild headache. I've been taking 20mg of Noopept daily, over two doses. And 500mg of DMAE, over two doses. I read that Noopept is pretty fast acting, 15-20 minutes. Maybe I was expecting a little too much from it, but as far as I can tell I have seen no positive effects. I also understand that the effects might become apparent over time, but with how I'm feeling right now I feel a little sceptical to continue usage. Today I took 20mg of Noopept in a single dose with breakfast just after I woke, before that I had taken 250mg of DMAE, I also took another 250mg of DMAE in the early afternoon.

Ok, so suffering from what I guess is moderate depression, which tends to fluctuate in severity, I am no stranger to 'brain fog.' Although right now, what I'm feeling seems a lot more severe that what I have felt previously. I can't focus on anything. I have a constant headache, which is dull, and sometimes not all that noticeable. My vision seems almost blurred, as if I've had a few beers. And in general I feel disconnected from reality.

I understand you should take a source of choline with Noopept and racetams in general, as they deplete acetylcholine levels. And that the depletion of those is what leads to headaches. So I did some reading on DMAE, and the information seems contrived whether it is actually source of choline or not? Either way I haven't tried DMAE or Noopept on their own, therefore I was wondering whether it was one of them individually causing this, or both of them in synergy doing something my brain doesn't like.

Sorry if some of this seems convoluted, I'm having a hard time putting thoughts together. In reality it's exactly the opposite effect I was searching for. Nonetheless I guess you can't know without trying. Anyhow I'm stopping taking either until I return to 'normal.' Hopefully I do...   Even then, I'm not sure it's a good idea to go back to them, especially with the already affected state my mind is in.

Obviously a big thanks to anyone who can help me out.  :) And before I get chastised, I hope this is the right forum for this topic.

Hi,

I can't really offer any explanation but I have Noopept and DMAE in my stack and it has not increased my brain fog, quite the opposite.

Yeah, I figured this would at least work towards alleviating my brain fog, though I didn't expect it to completely rid it. Anyhow, I suppose with nootropics, supplements, medicine, etc, it's dependent on the individual on what the reaction will be, positive or otherwise. Maybe it was my state of mind at the time, or something else I can't understand. I'll probably shelve them for a week or two and then try again, hopefully with better results. Other than that, I've read a lot of reports that some people are nonresponders to a lot of nootropics, racetams in particular. But considering I haven't really tried any others I can't come to that conclusion yet.

Hi colactix
How did you go? Any luck finding out what the issue was? As soon as i took noopept i also got brain fog and lethargy. I had to drop from 10 to 5mg but still realized something wasn't right so discontinued use.

both too much and too little acetylcholine can cause headache as far as I've understood. Same with glutamate.
