Hi

Please refer to this link:

Short story:

I have a predisposed low tolerance for stress. In the last three years various external conditions have stressed me a lot, and as a result of this I have experienced a moderate depression for 9 months or so.

My supplement regime does not handle the depression so far.

Some months ago I got only 4.5 hours sleep, and I expected a terrible day at work. However, that day was one of my best for a long time. I was calm and concentrated.

In order to get the most benefits from sleep deprivation related to depression, should I stay completely of caffeine? I normally drink 3-4 cups on a working day.

(PS! Staying off the caffeine when sleeping normally does not make any difference in my mood/concentration)

Sleep deprivation is effective for depression, but only until you go to sleep. Long-term it aggravates depression. It's an interesting effect, however, it is not intended to cure depression. It is only used in treatment-resistant depression, but only as a temporary treatment.

There are a lot of other effective treatments you could try: antidepressants, psychotherapy, exercise, ketamine, psychedelics, TMS, ECT. Since it is a moderate depression you may start with psychotherapy and exercise and possibly use other supplements (zinc, magnesium, omega-3, NAC, inositol helped me most).
