@JackBlack @BeachyKeen

A bit more reading about, and 2 days of experimenting with, DXM with Mucuna has produced some good results. Thanks Jack!

Essentially, I've been taking some Mucuna about once every few weeks for a while, just to see if anything would happen. Almost nothing has. Maybe a bit of a boost but nothing worth writing about.

Yesterday, after doing some reading and noticing that DXM has the ability to amplify a substance while lowering your tolerance, I decided to jump back into it. I bought some more DXM, took 75 MG, then took 1/2 tsp mucuna a few hours later. Boom! I felt great! Things that would usually get under my skin were like water off a duck's back. I was able to be intimate with my wife without feeling inadequate (Not physically but personally. She's an amazing woman.).

Since Mucuna stopped working, sex has been almost a chore at having to psych my self up and tell myself that I am worthy. More work than it was worth but I did it for her. Last night was so different. I didn't feel unworthy. I wasn't concerned that I wasn't a good enough husband. I was actually able to enjoy the process.

Today, I took 45 MG DXM, then took 1/4 tsp mucuna a few hours later. Feeling good. Not like Superman but like a strong, healthy human being. This is good.  :-D

If DXM can do this, I'm onboard 100%. If it can do this WHILE reducing my tolerance, 1000%.

And on a probably unrelated note, yesterday afternoon and again this morning, I noticed a low hum while sitting at my desk. Suddenly I realized it was my computer speakers that were on but had no sound playing through them. They've been at the same setting for a year and a half and I've never noticed the hum before. Maybe my tinnitus is being reduced. I wasn't looking for that so I haven't been paying attention. The hum NEVER bothered me before but today I had to lower the volume on them and crank up the volume on my computer.

You're welcome. Great news and thanks for the update.
I didn't know DXM was available in pure form.

I can't say that it's in pure form, but there aren't any other active ingredients. I've been buying this: http://www.cvs.com/s...s-prodid-277802

Noticed a drop off of effectiveness of the Mucuna on the third day. So I stopped taking it, bought another bottle of the liqui-gels and took them for 3 nights, not looking to robo-trip. The doses were 105 MG. 105 MG, 90 MG and that killed the bottle. I noticed almost an emotional glowing effect after the first night. Less so after the second night and nothing after the third night. My assumption is that I still had that much Mucuna in my system but my D Receptors just weren't taking it in until after the DXM.

At this point I think the Mucuna is out of my system and I should hopefully have lowered my tolerance a bit further. So today I bought another bottle, took 30 MG, and I'm going to try taking 1/8 tsp Mucuna after letting the DXM settle for 2 hours to see what happens. I really want to get to a place where it works again. If I can, SWEET! If not, well, I feel better after the DXM than I have in a while so at least I haven't lost anything.  :-D

I'll keep updating this as my experiments continue.

**Edit** I forgot to add that yesterday, with no Mucuna or additional DXM, I've had the ability to laugh and enjoy things more fully than I have since the Mucuna stopped working. Even if the Mucuna doesn't work again, I'm in a better place post-DXM than pre-DXM.

Ok, continuation of the experiments:

Monday:

  • DXM - 30 MG - let the DXM settle for 2 hours
  • 1/8 tsp Mucuna

Results: Nothing!

So, of course, being the impulsive person that I am, I upped the voltage.

About 4 hours after initial Mucuna dose, I took 1/2 tsp.

Results: Nothing!

I stayed away from both Mucuna and DXM on Tuesday and Wednesday. Today I decided to try again. Here's what happened.

Thursday:

  • DXM - 60 MG - let the DXM settle for 3.5 hours
  • 1/2 tsp Mucuna

Results: Nothing!

I'm at a flat baseline of where I was BEFORE I started using the DXM and while the Mucuna wasn't working. It's not great. It's also not horrible. I know what to expect out of my emotions, even if my wife doesn't. I hate having her walk on eggshells because she doesn't know how I'm going to react to something. It sucks.

Oh well, I think I'm done with the DXM. Cool effects in the honey-moon season but nothing great long term.

if stimulant is not working,it means you down-regulated receptors by over-stimulation. I have great results after stopping all the stimulants: caffeine, alcohol, porn, addictions, etc. fortunately i don't smoke or do drugs. the first week was tough (headaches), but taking memantine helped a lot. this is very ironic, we teach kids how these things are not good for you, but we do them ourselfs. sure enough they are not good for you in the long term.

If caffeine headache is caused by a deficiency in glutamate activation, how would memantine help?

  • Caffeine:       1x / week.
  • Alcohol:        1-2 drinks / week.
  • Porn:             Never.
  • Cannabis:     1-2x / month. Approx. 1 gram since July.
  • Addictions:    Chocolate. Was drinking 3-6 of https://www.amazon.c...s/dp/B00RNGEW12 per day. Last week I cut that out and have only had 2 packets in 1.5 weeks.

With the exception of the Cacao Bru, I have no real addictions and even that I quit using. For the most part I eat a Keto diet and when sciatica isn't attacking me, I go to the gym a few times per week.

Maybe I should try the DXM again since I quit the Cacao Bru. Not sure that I will, but it's an option.

You may want to ensure (as far as you can) that the Cacao Brew is not loaded with cadmium, a very undesirable, toxic metal. Cd contamination is very common in cocoa powders (I recently stopped mixing cocao with my morning smoothie because of that). I don't know if cacao is similarly liable to contamination. There's a thread about it on here somewhere.
