The fact that it could help with attention problems and memory got me interested a little, I wouldnt take it because of all the bad side effects and because it hasnt been researched enough yet, it does sound like it could be helpful in the future though.

I wouldn't be so much concerned about any deleterious effects of nicotine on health, but more about whether there are really any cognitive benefits. Preliminary research on scholar.google.com suggests that trials showing cognitive enhancement are with smokers who have been forced to abstain and then have the withdrawal relieved. In non-smokers the evidence for cognitive enhancent seems very thin:

NS, I respect all of your posts that you have put on this board(yea im a new poster, but avid reader(since i discovered this great place a week ago)...I have to say, you are obviously an intelligent individual, but you must not have much information pertaining to the bb/diet department.:)

Wow, this thread has taken off =) Just to clarify, yes I meant to say underestimate (as the tone suggests) not overestimate. You summed it up well, what I meant by will power / motivation is that if you commit yourself (mentally, physically and emotionally) enough to achieving a goal (in the case of weight loss egs would be buying healthy food, cooking it and maintaining a regular exercise regime) you will more than likely achieve it. I think with anything, you only get out what you put in, and nothing worthwhile is ever achieved without some discipline or hard work somewhere.

BTW it's 'lose weight' not 'loose weight', although most people who want to 'lose weight' probably have lots of 'loose weight' ;)

Robbie

P.S. Not trying to offend fat people, if you really want to lose weight, are motivated and can't, PM me.

Yes, thanks for your correction, there is a difference isn't there. I guess if you strained the word hard enough it might work, but thanks for the correction; we don't want to confuse people [wis]. Anyways, in my humble opinion, it is very nice of you to help people with weight problems, as it is getting to be a severe emotional, physical, and spiritual(as in mental well-being) order which needs much attention. Anyways, the tobacco vs. Vasopressin discussion can continue, I promise I didn't steal the thread, as it's still here. If my mere typed words, displayed on this thread, were felt to be offensive, simply overlook them as if they aren't apparent. I trained them not to bite ;)

Any fat person can lose weight. Most all of us really want to lose weight, are motivated, and can. The big problem is that 18 months later, we'll have gained back all the weight and added another 10%.

If you're an obese person that is currently in the 18 month period where you think you are the source of all wisdom about losing weight, you have a big surprise coming. Most of we obese people have been in that position many times. Welcome to your life.
