I've taken 1g approximately of pantothenic acid for two days. The first and second day I felt an increase in mental and physical energy that unlike acetylcarnitine did not subside within an hour and turn into fatigue or lead to sweating. On the second day I felt an androgenic effect shortly after taking it but then it subsided mostly. I also felt burning and hyperthermia in my upper body and mostly head, coupled with physical weakness somewhat comparable to too high or low blood sugar - anyone know the reason for this?

It uses the same transporter and biotin (vitamin b7) and megadosing either of these alone can lead to a deficiency of the other, it's postulated. On the other hand, megadosing them together supposedly can cause some specific but extremely rare reaction (only b5 overdose adverse effect ever recorded was in an elderly woman) whose name I forgot.

Anyone using it?

Use at 2 g per day for it's many benefits, and to balance other high dose Bs like niacin, for years. But don't feel anything directly. From acetyl-carnitine neither.

How very interesting. I wonder, are you sure it's the same version of b5 that you are using? Some other people have experienced the same weird effects as I have. Could it be that I've depleted myself of B vitamins? But if so then the b-complex pill I've taken should help.

Btw have you had any hair loss whatsoever? Some users report having had it from taking it and it's supposed to increase dht if I remember right. It could also just be caused by an induced biotin deficiency.

No hair-loss. Tried upto 1 g pantethine too, because of the much higher cost I continued with regular pantothenic acid powder. But I take Biotin too. By the way, there was once a thread where I mentioned which nutrients I could feel immediate effects:

If I take too much b5 (150-250mg+), I get some weird panic attacks.

Anyone noticed being more "calm" or having better sleep in any way when taking b5?

This poison makes me tired and depressed. The effects last for days after a 500 mg dose. It increases acetylcholine, which lowers serotonin. B5 also lowers cholesterol and the body needs cholesterol to produce serotonin and dopamine. If you search for "pantothenic acid makes me tired" or "pantothenic acid + permanent side effects" in google you'll find people who have been damaged long term by mega dosing with this vitamin. Don't take it!

The only positive things were it helped me lose weight and reduced my acne. But it's not worth the depressed mood.
