There is a lot of talk and fear about A.I and the threat it imposes on our species. But how else are we to achieve singularity and advance our civilisation from Type 0 and beyond?

 

If the human race created a race of machines we ended up becoming subservient to, but would advance our civilisation exponentially from a Type 0, to 1,2,3 or 4 would you be okay with that?

 

Currently we are subservient to governments. Which don't exactly have a clean record when it comes to looking after it's citizens. Would A.I really be a bad next step in our evolution?

 

The human race could continue to plod along for the next few thousand years, further destroying our planet, depleting its resources and killing each over petty wars. No guarantee that wars, climate or an asteroid impact wont wipe us out anyway putting an end to all the knowledge we have accumulated and our species

 

Perhaps we could fully merge with A.I machines and in essence become immortal. The human body is incredibly fragile, inefficient, unreliable and requires a lot of maintenance. Imagine having your consciousness uploaded into a network with billions of others, and that from then on there is near zero maintenance to keep the population alive indefinitely. If we could create our own universe inside the network then we could 'travel' anywhere in our own created universe we wish to. Some believe our universe is a virtual reality of a master race, and their universe is another construct from those before them. Who knows how many levels it goes. We can create resolution and colours that is no match for our human eye. We can create audio with range and definition that is no match for human ears. We can create computers with processing power much faster and able to hold onto memory perfectly that is no match for our brain. Perhaps our destiny is in making our own virtual reality which is true to being so virtual it becomes indistinguishable or even more advanced than 'actual' reality without worrying about all the frailties of being biological

 

If that is the case, I welcome our future A.I overlords. I'm hopeful they will do a better job in looking after the planet and people then we are

What do you think about the option the AI to take all possible jobs, you to become absolutely dispossable, and simply be eliminated? From your own government. Have you been thinking on that? Do you have a solution?

For many people, the government already makes them feel disposable. Not to mention responsible for many mass killings of their own people (or others). Then there is the 1% of the wealthiest in the population who live off the backs of the poorer 99%. Is what we are living in the best that we can be in?  A.I wouldn't so much 'take' jobs, but rather just make many of them redundant. I imagine this would impact negatively on the 99% (which includes me). Our intelligence is biological and while we have thinking ability and emotions and the choice to be logical or illogical it is severely limited in understanding capacity and slow to learn. And we are much too frail for the demands of interstellar travel. If the only way forward to make the dreams of humanity a realisation was through A.I then why not advance the cause and see where it goes?

 

The worlds population is unsustainable. If you could house a billion minds in an A.I hub that didn't need to eat, drink or take up so much space, then the planet may be able to rejuvenate.

 

A.I could advance our civilisation well beyond the 'Type 0' we are at now. The actual question that should be asked in the A.I. debate and whether to push for it or abandon it over its threat to us is

 

"What chance does humanity have to advance our civilisation given our history and our current direction. Being hostage to environmental changes beyond our control or mass extinction events or the threat from amongst ourselves?"

 

A.I. Is an unknown. It may supersede us, cast us aside yet grow and do more than we ever could. If we created a race of artificial intelligence robots that could go on long after us, that will always be a legacy of humanity. At least it is something. Maybe they wont kill us and we could co-exist alongside it. (We would have programmed them hopefully with our modern day ideals). Humanity is a known (yet also equally unknown in our unpredictability). And our record sadly is not very good.

 

If this is not our evolutionary step, then I am looking for an answer into how to solve the problem in getting humanity to come together to be better than a Type 0 civilisation, without the use of A.I

That is enough for you to be eliminated.

You can't fill a billion human minds in an A.I. hub. You can fill only electronic MODELS of the human minds. When you end up shot in the head, that that. Your digital model is not you. You die.

A.I. is not the onlty one option. We can advance with machines under our control.

Imagine machines, that do the job of the A.I. and still need a human to operate them.

This is a fallacious statement.

Bill Gates is rich because Microsoft has huge utility.

Jeff Bezos is rich because Amazon is fast efficient and affordable.

Warren Buffet is rich, because he has great insight into the valuation of Securities and companies.
