I am probably going to order 100 grams of Spermidine.  It is supposed to be a very good anti aging supplement. Ive never tried it but someone from this forum uses it and likes the effects.

Cool show me. I've seen it for more and they want to verify that you are a business buying the stuff so its hard to get from those sources.

Has anyone actually purchased and used this product.  The first source above apparently carefully monitors your anticipated use.  From what have read, it has a positive impact on CAD which makes it very interesting to me.

Spermidine was mentioned again on FightAging and from the looks of it there are sellers on Amazon currently, it's expensive though. I don't know what dosing is required. I do know that aged cheddar has some spermidine. So does wheat germ. A standard 2 TBSP serving of wheat germ has about 2mg of spermidine. The down side here is probably gluten.

I assume that this is the Amazon product you're talking about:

https://www.amazon.c.../dp/B0771SJFSQ/

Unless there's something in that product that would be harmful, that price isn't actually that bad.  I think Turnbuckle was dosing at 30mg per dose.  At 5g that's 167 doses for $93.99. That's not terrible to me.

Spermidine has so many potential benefits.  It ramps up autophagy which would be useful for cardiovascular disease and a number of neurodegenerative diseases.

Maybe @Turnbuckle could drop in and tell is us there's anything to look for in spermidine for oral consumption.

I'm thinking that you would want to cycle this supplement.  Probably no reason to keep autophagy high all the time and maybe some reasons not to.

According to this 2007 paper, the average intake of spermidine was ~55,000 nmol/day which works out to ~8 mgs.  20-30 mgs/day seems reasonable.

Weight is relative to dosage. I mean, 5g of coke is also very expensive, but you're not going to do 5g of coke or even half a gram on a single fun night out unless you're sharing with several people.

I think above someone mentioned a reasonable spermidine dosage would be around 30mg per day and not even every day, that's almost a year's worth, well, a good 160 days that can be stretched over a year, for $95. I just spent a lot more than that on a bottle of NR that may last half as long. Question is how bioavailable is it and just how much science is there behind its use besides what's been referenced. Not much. It's also in wheat germ and aged cheddar, and a recent study (Google it) showed that people who eat an ounce of cheese every day live longer.

I won't get into how ridiculous it is for someone concerned about youth and longevity to do that much coke, but seriously, that's not how *any* of this works. I don't know what you mean by "feel any effect". The only effect you may feel, according to research, is a future without atherosclerosis and heart disease.

The online purchase sites for spermidine referenced above, including the Amazon one require proof that the substance be used for "research purpose."  Has anyone been able to purchase it yet?

I would be shocked if you went to Amazon and put that in your shopping cart if you weren't able to check out with no problem whatsoever.  Amazon doesn't really have a mechanism for checking those sorts of things.

That "research purposes" on the label is simply to get the manufacture off the hook if you consume it and have an adverse reaction.

Daniel

I asked the seller from where they ship (Chicago) and contained in that reply was the caveat that a research use was required. Maybe I shouldn’t have asked in the first place. Either way, I would be interested to see if it can be purchased.

Never ask.  Just do.

I'd try to make a purchase but I won't be ready to try that one for a couple of months.  In any case I suspect they are just covering their ass.  Lawyers you know.

If you look at Fig 1 in that 2007 paper I cited, there are plenty of other foods with high spermidine & other polyamine content.  Spermidine is below. The units here

are nmoles per serving size (2nd #).  Corn or green pea soup anyone?

Spermidine     Corn (fresh/canned), ½ cup 137,682/221,111a

Green pea soup, 1 cup 65,552

                         Pear, 1 medium 60,756

                         Cheese enchilada, 1 medium 48,770

                         Tempeh, 3 oz 42,618

                         Soy burgers 1 39,616

                         Peas (fresh/canned) ½ cup 35,9 20/38,165a

                         Lentil soup, 1 cup 37,117

Pasta with meat sauce 1 cup 36,059

                         Tofu hotdog 1 27,121

2007 is a long time ago. Corn and peas are no laughing matter (nowadays they call it the Medittarenian diet or Blue Zones diet) but take a look here for maximizing spermidine input:

https://en.wikipedia...wiki/Spermidine

Add wheatgerm to your corn and peas.....

im very skeptical eating corn and peas alone would help achieve max level spermidine. what are you suppose to do anyway, eat tons of the stuff daily for years? you might just end up throwing up like in the exorcist all green/yellow mush
