I've decided a year after a failed pramiracetam experiment to get back into nootropics and give others a chance.
I bought Phenibut and Vinpocetine. I took 1.5g of pheni around 11am and didn't notice any effects by 1pm, so I decided I needed more. I took 2.5g more two hours ago. 4g in total.
I almost feel as though I've been drinking. I'm relaxed, eating a lot, and have no interest in continuing to type this. Why is this considered a nootropic? Drinking a glass of vodka would give me a feeling similar to this,

Edit: I also haven't smoked all day. Very odd for me as I usually enjoy the act of smoking more than smoke itself, I usually have around 6 black and milds a day. Also, I'm 21, if it matters.

It's a nootropic because at (lower) doses it kills any anxiety you might have and increases creativity. You shouldn't have started with 4g - phenibut just takes a LONG time to act, sometimes up to 6 hours. You should dose it as soon as you wake up and forget about it.
Don't take it more than a few days in a row, tolerance quickly builds up and it can be addicting.

to me it isn't THAT nootropic, but it is much more so than alcohol. It's like how I consider a low dose of clonazepam to incredibly focusing and motivating, but imo phenibut is more.. recreational hahah. Plus compared to what a lot of people consider nootropics(drugs without possible/probably harmful effect to put it simply, piracetam is a prime example imo), they both have addiction and w/d aspects(same with amphetamine/methylphenidate),

It has the same bad effects on the liver as alcohol, because it causes fatty liver. I don't know if this is a common trait among GABA-B agonists, but I do know that both ethanol and phenibut have a polar OH group. At any rate, fatty liver is not good. You only get one liver.

I think it is only considered nootropic from a marketing perspective, and for that fact that it doesn't cripple you in the way that benzodiazepines can. It provides functional but powerful anxiolysis, as opposed to pure sedation. I am unaware of any short or long-term cognitive gains. I blame Russian publications for phenibut's dissemination as a nootropic. Perhaps they operate on a slightly different definition, because it has very noticeable and dangerous side-effects which violate both Giurgea's and Skondia's nootropic criteria.

I briefly used the stuff to fight anxiety but even high doses once every week or two (4-6g) caused tolerance to skyrocket. It also worstened my OCD. I flushed it.

I wouldn't consider it much of a nootropic unless your have anxiety issues. Takes a while to kick in, but once it does your in for a ride.

Seriously though,

I'm having a hard time typing this right now.
Soon after I posted, this is what happened.
I got a text from a random number. A girl I didn't know, a friend had given her my number. She said she was bored, I went over to her house and we eneded up hanging out for awhile. Pheni made me feel like I was in love with this girl. I think.. It was a weird feeling. I was so comfortable around her that the first thing I did was walk over to her fridge and eat some lasagna. wtf?. She said she wanted to lay down with me and watch a movie, and this sounded amazing to me. Like it was the greatest thing we could possibly do at that time. We were laying there for maybe 10 minutes and she reached back and put her hands up my hoodie and started touching me. This went on for awhile and we were talking. Then she told me she was 16, in high school, and on the cheerleading team. I was thinking about what I should do as I am 21 now and wasn't sure if it was ok. But then she put her hands on the top of my pants and started to take off my belt. Myself, and the pheni both said fuck it, she's incredibly hot and this is going to be fun. I came to find out that pheni is great for sex. I was so into it. She came twice, and I lasted almost an hour. Not normal for me. I'm usually done and asleep within 30 minutes lol. We both fell asleep, but I didn't sleep for long. After 3 hours I woke up feeling fully refreshed, like I had just slept for 12 hours. In conclusion, pheni is pretty great and I encourage you to try it.. I just need to figure out what kind of dose to take.

What is fatty liver? That doesn't sound too bad.

I agree with you there. This doesn't seem like it should be called a nootropic. I like this stuff, but it does seem to have some pretty dramatic side effects. The way it affected my sleep, the amount of puking I just did, and I woke up with a dry mouth. I could see why those of you with anxiety problems take this.. I would too if I were you. I felt almost drunk and wanted to hug everyone.
I also don't remember my dreams, if I even had any. I always remember my dreams, so this, ontop of other things, kind of scares me.

I've taken Phenibut once - only once. I have some anxiety issues even going to the mall, and wanted to see if it would help. It did help quite a bit - I was even making chit chat with strangers. However, the next day I felt as if I had a hangover. I drink quite often, and NEVER feel as horribly the next day as I did off of Phenibut. I agree with CLR in the post above - I flushed it. Great for anxiety, but if I want to feel drunk, I'll drink, not take Phenibut. There are plenty of other Nootropics out there that help with anxiety, actually have real Nootropic benefits, and don't give me a hangover. Phenibut can be a very dangerous supplement as well. Very risky to take...

It is an amazing chemical. I don't think there is anyone in the world who is completely anxiety/stress free, so you all should try using it once a week. That one day a week, you'll just not give a fuck about anything and feel awesome. There are no withdrawal effects if you limit yourself to using it once or maybe twice a week, but don't use it more than that.

What brands of phenibut do you all use? I started using Primaforce a few weeks ago, just curious if there are better brands out there.

EDIT: Also, I work at a library...whenever I use this stuff before going to work, I have this urge to juggle/toss books up in the air as I'm carrying them around. Something I never normally do. I should probably not take this stuff before going to work.

Dear Penthouse forum ...

Haha, yeah. sorry. I was coming down from the pheni. I'm much more sober now and deleting that post, I'm not sure why I wrote it.

I'm about 50% sober now, I ended up taking another 3grams ontop of that 4g. What are some of the withrawl symptoms?
I ordered mine from smartpowders, it's their own brand.

Haha. Good thing you didn't start doing that, people would probably look at you like you're crazy. Pheni seems to be a clean, non intoxicatiing version of alchohal.

.. Why can I only edit my most recent post?

If moderation is used, phenibut can be helpful. Indeed, it did make for some nice evenings, with euphoria, lowered inhibitions and that tingly buzz/lightheaded sensation that accompanies higher doses. But after a 5 or 6 large doses, even spaced out with two weeks in between, that euphoric buzz disappeared and I was not comfortable taking any more than 6 grams.

The last time I used it, I took 6 grams and even had a couple shots of liquor at a party, and did not get the buzz I was used to. So I called it quits.

On an off note, I let my girlfriend try like 2 grams. After some time, it put her into an "emotional drunk" state for about an hour, during which every stimulus made her either uncontrollably laugh or hysterically bawl her eyes out (particularly at the end of Lilo and Stitch).

Edit: I used a micronized powder from nootropicsdepot. 125g for like 25 dollars or something like that.

Haha. You sir just commited statutory rape and documented it on a noot forum. Hahah. Phenibut is a hell of a drug apparently. I've yet to try it since I have an addictive personality.

I read somewhere else Pheni tolrance is irreversible. Is this true?

That's cheaper than smartpowders. I paid 25 for 100g.

Maybe by definition it's rape, but I am really attracted to her and may even date her.

I did try to delete it, but I can't edit it and I can't find a way to delete posts. I may just delete the thread.

Edit: I've seen your picture before. Do you have a profile on meetme? If so I saw your post about living at your mom's. lololol.

Nope I don't even know what meet me is. I wasn't trying to insult you just stating the obvious and would expect respect. Thank you.
Anyway have fun with your 16 yo old girl. That's nice I'm sure that will work out wonderfully. No disrespect meant by that.

Phenibut is not a nootropic. And i think the word "nootropic" is abused too often to describe anything psychoactive. Strictly speaking, Nootropics are substances that enhances cognition and intelligence. Anxiolitycs (like Phenibut) don't fit exactly the definition, nor do motivation or attention enhancers, even if they can help with cognitive effort.

This is how the original creator of the word Nootropic defines it : http://en.wikipedia....eliu_E._Giurgea

Stop trying to get high on Phenibut guys. Buck your butt over to a recreational drugs forum if you wanna talk about getting high on Gaba-B agonists.

As Nils Olav said, probably best to keep it to once a week for anti-anxiety purposes and/or keep the dosage seriously low. Not to be a D-Bag but if you're looking to get high on it or recommend getting high on it to others you might want to go somewhere else.

Also WTF anonymous.0.. come on man, seriously, quit trolling if you are, and if you are not I really have no words. I mean why would you do that, and then share that kind of information publicly? It's just inappropriate and you will probably get yourself into trouble

Do you have any references to back this up or is this pure speculation based on the molecular structure? thanks

I take phenibut once every two or three months. it gives me everytime a phenomenal evening and night. Most of the time i feel a bit of anxiety and an internal unrest, phenibut helps very efficiently.
Im more social, creative and im more spontaneously.
I think i never took more than 1g, so i think it has his place. I have to admit that for me phenibut is more as an nootropic than many other supplements that are declared as nootropic, that i have tried.
And i think in comparison i tried many of them and surely not misinterpreted the results because of wrong dosage.

Abused this with with alcohol over the course of about 3 days back in 2009 and had the most horrific comedown. 5 days without sleep, extreme anxiety/tremours and sensitive hearing/vision. Was worse than benzo withdrawal. Obviously it was my own fault, but there have been similar experiences from other users so be careful.
