Does picking Ryan signal an intention to steal the election?

What did Romney hope to gain from adding Ryan to the ticket? According to polls he needs more votes to win and he can't get more votes from Ryan, who is to the right of Atilla the Hun. Anyone who would vote for Ryan would already have been voting for Romney. To broaden his appeal he would have had to add a centrist to the ticket.
Ryan can only increase votes for Obama by social moderates. He will repel women who dislike his extreme position on abortion. He will drive every last potential Obama voter to the polls. So why was he chosen? Maybe someone believes that the vote will not determine the election.
I believe that this has already happened twice. I believe that a group of people lead by Dick Cheney stole two elections on behalf of George W. Bush.
If your only consideration was to reverse social progress and drive this country back to the dark ages then Ryan would be an excellent choice.
It's obvious that regressive forces in this country are trying to disenfranchise people in any way that they can. If they outright steal the election, and we don't stand up, they will steal this country. If they do this, what are you going to do?
