I would really like to start designing and simulating ASAP but nanorex-1 doesn't come out until Northern Hemisphere Spring 2007 according to wikipedia.
What can I do to get some hands-on in the meantime?

When are they going to have such a ability to use nanatechnology to build a processing computer as showed in the video?
Would anyone know what courses or major one would have to take if interested in nanomedcine and nanorobotics?

You'd want to look into biomedical engineering programs. MIT has a research facility dedicated to nanoscale engineering of biological systems but I think it's more or less related to synthetic biology. The two are closely related IMO as nature already does nano extremely well via chemistry! Trying to build motors, gears and stuff we use at the macro level might not be the best approach for doing work at the molecular scale. Check out openwetware.org for a group that's going the synthetic bio route.
