http://www.ncbi.nlm....r00087-0070.pdfInterestingly, histones can protect DNA from iron-mediated damage (oxidation?). The drug they tested in the first article article unwinds DNA from the histones to upregulate transcription, which might expose the DNA to premature damage (just a thought).
I could imagine a romantic scenario for a thriller, where one must choose between a long life by not taking this drug, or a short yet brilliant life through enhanced cognition and accelerated aging. These are all just fun ideas I'm tossing around though :P
