Why not use technology that will make it possible to build (grow) ISLANDS in EXOSPACE. Tha Lagrangian Liberation Points would be a good location for humankinds first off planet settlements.
Remember, the idea is not to move to other planets, but use a location with 24/365 days sunshine and choice of gravity.
