Hi everyone!
I know there are many smart and insightful people around here and I'd appreciate if you could try to come up with a solution to a problem I have.
My mood and energy levels are better than ever right now and this is largely thanks to 5 things: cutting out all stimulants, piracetam, cerebrolysin, lots of exercise and my new Tempur bed.
However, whenever I go above 1 ml of cerebrolysin per day, I start to wake up at night and have huge problems falling back to sleep again. Getting up and doing something else helps, as does taking paracetamol or smoking a joint, but it will usually take at least 2 hours before I can fall back to sleep again, if at all.
My guess is this might be because blood sugar-related: cerebrolysin increases glucose uptake (http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/10816070) and blood sugar is naturally lower at night and this makes cortisol levels spike. I had the same problem when I was eating low carb and some other things that cause the same phenomena are eating veggies in the evening, going above 1 tbsp of potato starch (both doing things with the gut that consumes glucose http://perfecthealth...-the-thyroid/), holy basil extract taken before bed (lowers blood sugar).
These wake-ups usually happen at around 3 am and it gets even harder to fall back to sleep when cortisol levels start to rise in the early hours.
Anyone have an idea what to do about this? Eating before bed or when I wake up doesn't seem to help.
It may sound trivial but it's really messing up everything for me as it makes it impossible to keep a regular schedule. It's damn frustrating since everything is going so well at the moment..
