I started taking 2X800mg oxiracetam daily a few days ago, out of curiosity (i would like to see if it could contribute to improve my concentration, memory, etc). I am experiencing sleepiness since I started. Is there anything essential to take along with oxiracetam that I should know about?
thanks in advance

Divide the 1600mg into 3 doses......(empty capsules into fluid and drink a third at time if you only have 800mg pills)
Racetams cause ur brain to chew up choline faster than normal(making u sHLEpy).... SO....
U need to offset this by supping with extra choline
CDP choline
AGP choline
Centrophenoxine (GOODUMS for FoCuS)
AND/OR Taking something that slows the natural breakdown of choline in the brain....
Huperzine A
Galantamine
Read up about it to find dosings.....All the info is available here.
HUP A is cheap and I'd say 100mcg per 500mg of Oxiracetam would probably work...
Every one is different though.....

Splitting the doses up is good idea. I find that I get sleepy even if I take any combination of alpha-GPC and cdp-choline adding up to 1g and 250mcg huperzine A IF I take too much of a cetam. Too much alpha-gpc seems to make me sleepy too. For me:
No sleepiness (taken with 250mg cdp-choline + 250mcg hup a):
1-2g piracetam
800mg oxiracetam
500mg aniracetam
Examples of dosages that have consistenly made me sleepy:
1g aniracetam at once
1.6g oxiracetam + 1g alpha-gpc
3g piracetam + 1-2g alpha-gpc (spread out over several hours)
Anyone else have any comments on sleepiness with the cetams and/or choline supplements?

Thanks for the replies. Generally speaking, can Oxiracetam work by itself or does it necessarily need to be taken with other supplements in order to be effective?

Personally, I have found that when I double up on my dosage of Huperzine A... I get headaches.
I am not sute what I can do to prevent the headaches, aside from sticking with the lower dosage.
Any one have a better understanding?

You bet. Take more 'racetams. Personally it works oppositely for me. If I take too much hup-a/AGP I get a neck-ache. If I take more 'racetams it goes away. If I take even more 'racetams I get a headache. It's a balancing act, my friend. At any rate, work on your ratio of choline-donors vs hup-a/galantamine vs 'racetams. It's different for everyone and changes with your diet and exercise plan. You'll have to find your own balance.
