Atleast in part they seem to be critical from the recycling of methionine into SAM-E (methionine adenosyltransferase)?

Pretty much every ATP molecule is magnesium dependent and sulpher donors such as taurine could theoretically profide the body with plenty of a sulfur reservoir to link methionine to adenosine to form SAM-E.

Also this raises another question, when one supplements with exogenous SAM-E, what would happen with methionine adenosyltransferase. Surely the body is incredibly good at maintaing homeostasis.

When you consider that alterations in sam-e/sah/homocysteine/methionine ratios are associated with psychosis and mania. On top of that exogenous SAM-E seems to do an incredibly good job of inducing these symptoms in a large amount of the population. Now methionine alters the kynurenine pathway and therefor could alter ratios between quinolinic acid/kynurenic acid. Now it doesnt end there, since SAM-E is also critical cofactor for spermidine and spermine synthesis you can imagine what drastic changes this could have upon the body.

Thoughts on this?

East of genetics do you know if I would be a good responder to supplement with SAM-e? The whole methylation thing throws me off but here are some alleles:

MTHFR GT risk allele G (A1298C)
MTHFR AG risk allele A (C677T)
MTRR GG risk allele G (A66G)
MTRR CT risk allele T (C524T)
MAOB C risk allele T +/+*(male)
COMT AG risk allele A (V158M)
COMT CT risk allele T (H62H)
GSTP1 GG risk allele G (lle105Val)
APOE CC risk allele C (Arg176Cys)

Im COMT warrior and I stopped SAM-E holy shit that stuff is scary man, I freaked the fuck out, made me trip balls and hallucinate and panic attack 2-3 days after my last 400mg dose. The comedown of SAM-E I got extremely deep thoughts then I started tripping during sleep (nightmares hallcuinations panic attacks pounding heart), think of the type hallucinations you can get during fever, then multiply that by 10. I was shitting my pants man, not sure if Ill ever touch this stuff again, it does something with DNA methylation that shit is out of my league.

Cant really help you with it man, all I can say with this stuff is if you go try it, start really low 200mg. This stuff aint no supplement imo.

Wow that’s odd. I did just fine on a standard dose of doctors best double strength but that was a while ago I might give it another run. Thanks

Carefull with that stuff man, it can have serious adverse effects, messing with DNA methylation is a scary territory, I found it out the hard way.
