Yay, I am glad you guys are using them! At first I thought no one would want to use them.

Some of these might be good to use other places as well (sigs in other forums, as your avatar, as your image on instant messengers such as AIM, etc.). Again, if anyone has an idea for a custom one, let me know. Also, I didn't use any text effects (such as making the text look metallic, making it fade, etc.) because the images were so small that I didn't think it would come across well, but that is an option as well. If anyone was wanting to create ones of their own, I can help you out with that as well, especially if you are using Photoshop (that is what I generally like to use)

Thanks for the image. :)

Nice! I didn't even think about doing that.
For anyone else that is interested, this is the html to use to do what he did (remove the three + signs and it will work, I had to put those in so it displayed as text instead):

I wonder, should this thread be moved to the FAQ section or something? I put it in the General forum to begin with, but 1) I don't want it constantly bumped to the top of the General forum every time I (or someone else) creates new ones and replies to this message, and 2) For new members in the future wondering how to add pics to their signature, it might be more relevant in the FAQ forum. Just a thought...

Nice work! Could you make a version that is a bit smaller and maybe we can get Jay to find a way to place them on the left hand column next to the avatar area. Once again, nice work and initiave.

It'll take a while to get to this (after the upgrade), but this is doable.

Keeping in mind how much effort is going into reskinning the vBulletin forum to maintain the current look and feel of the forum, my only concern is that these--what, avatars?--blend in nicely with the forum look and feel. The look and feel will change slightly, so we can cross that bridge when we get there. At any rate, these are popping up in sigs all over the place, so the look and feel is changing anyway. Just my two cents, I think they're a bit bright and gaudy for the forum. I don't mean that in a derogatory sense, because they look nice on their own; I'm just looking at how they stand out when reading through a topic.

What people put in their sigs is up to them, but as for something to put in the user display column on the left, that should be more toned down.

Yeah, I knew not everyone would want to put them in their sigs (not the style that some people like), but I know most other forums I have ever been on have these types of things, so I thought they would be fun to display your individual stripes. :) ...and sometimes (like on Office Space) the way you display your personality is with no flair. (to each their own)

About my thought about moving this topic out of the General forum (so doesn't keep getting bumped when new ones are created) to the FAQ forum (a question new members might have), good/bad idea?

btw, you guys like my new avatar? Better than that NES controller I used to have, I think.

If I added this to the user info column on the left (below the avatar somewhere), it'd be optional, a setting in your control panel. But it'd be automatic based on whatever criteria (number of posts, member group, time as a member, etc.), so it'd update whenever the next threshold is passed.

Haha, well I made all those ones (1/2 year, 1 year, 2 year, etc.) and so Nate Barna asked me to make one that had the same type of ribbon on it that said "Do the Math" instead.

You changed it?

Yea, it is the "I am Immortal" one now

Anyway, I like the NES controller.

I do too, it was definitely my favorite game system

The old one must still be in your cache or something. I changed it again, however, to a custom animated gif I like even better with Aubrey and Dr. Olshansky.

Yikes, 360k. Can you tone that down a bit? We don't really have a formal guideline, though we like to keep them reasonable. Mine, for example, is about 48k, with 18 or 24 frames (don't recall off the top of my head).

Quite possibly the most non-intuitive thing ever...

I do find it a bit confusing. I always think you're ag24 himself at first.

Sure thing, Jay I made a new one that is about half as big. (I like it better anyway) It is hosted offsite if you were worried about bandwidth. (I am sure you probably meant it was too big for some people if they had a slow dial up connection or something)

[huh]

Sorry that confused me a bit, but I suppose you either meant 1) you will always think I am ag24 (I just changed the avatar a little bit ago), or 2) Aubrey plays a lot of NES (which would rock)

I assume he meant that, since you made the change, he has mistaken you for ag24 every time. I have, when reading other threads where I'm not expecting you or ag24 in particular, so the avatar immediately made me think it was Aubrey, until I realized it was your animated gif.

Aah, ok, well you guys are quick readers since I've only had the avatar changed to one with Aubrey in it for about 2 and a half hours at this point, that was what was confusing me.

I couldn't get the html to work here or at Alcorunited Forum.
I came up with this by playing with it. (I don't know how to code!)

[URL+=http://www.alcor.org/][IMG+]http://i2.tinypic.com/wuhspc.gif[/IMG]

Remove the "+" to get it to work.

Html is turned off in the Alcor United Forum, so it won't work over there, but it will here (and anywhere else that uses html) if you use the following (minus the + signs of course):

<+a href="http://www.alcor.org"> <+img border="0" src="http://i2.tinypic.com/wuhspc.gif"><+/a>

it will show up as (scroll your mouse over):

Hopefully this helps.

Am I the only one that can't see these sig images anymore? They timeout after 10-15 seconds and just show up as an "X" with "user posted image" as the alt text.
