I've recently become reliant on a combination of mirtazapine and diphenhydramine to sleep at night. I have really bad insomnia (a common symptom of chronic fatigue syndrome which I unfortunately have) and taking 30mg mirt + 50mg diphen is the only thing that seems to work. If I cut either dosage at all then then the insomnia reasserts itself.
I'm obviously concerned about the long-term dementia risk from taking an anticholinergic* chronically. I am however taking ALCAR and citicoline during the day, so I wonder: am I counteracting the potential damage?
*Are they both anticholinergic? I'm reading conflicting things about mirtazapine.
