It's like something sucked directly from my subconscious. I swear I've had dreams exactly like that. I kid you not.

One of the coolest (and most bizarre) transhumanist related videos I have seen.

It is a fantastically profound CG animation. A fantastically unsettling, beautiful and disturbing video.... "a visual account of desires misplaced and identities fractured by our technological extension into the future."

I love Michael Shermer. In addition to that one, there are some other good ones of him floating around. He spoke at Beyond Belief 2006 (along with Dawkins, Sam Harris, Neil Degrasse Tyson, and a whole host of others) Here is the one where he spoke (one of the ones anyway, I believe he spoke more than once):
http://video.google......duration:long
(Skip to about 1:27:45 or so to see only his talk, which luckily you can do in Google vids)
Here are the other Beyond Belief lectures as well, which have some really good ones in them.

Also, Ted Talks in general (which is what the one jdog linked to) have lots of interesting ones:
http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks
(I would recommend browsing through some of the older ones, they have had tons of cool people do talks)

Also, if you really like Shermer, there is a whole lot of links to media (both audio and video) with him in it on here:

"Battle of the Brains" from the BBC. (the full episode) They are testing different people from different professions, seeing which are more "intelligent", and discussing whether IQ tests are accurate in determining intelligence. Near the end they discuss some aspects of intelligence as it relates to longevity.

Evolutionary psychologist Dan Dennett's TED Talk was pretty good, too.

Dennett has actually done 2 of them. Both pretty good:

The first of which (and the same one you linked to) he is responding to Rick Warren. (author of Purpose Driven Life) Here is his TED:

I don't know a lot about TED, but what the heck is Rick Warren doing preaching there?! Hello!! What kind-of new and exciting ideas is he spreading?

I think this is true. Luckily the skeptics of religion (Dennett, Shermer, Dawkins, and even people like Church of England vicar Rev. Tom Honey who denounces a "personal god") outnumber the proponents. I suppose they felt they needed to at least pay lip service to the conservative Christians? (Dennett tore him apart anyway, in my opinion. I am glad he went last.) For the most part, TED is a marketplace for ideas. I have watched some really good lectures on there over the past month or so on art, technology, science, the environment, and some other things. Personally, I have learned something from just about every one I click on and watch.

The 'universe represented as one year' should make us greatly appreciate that we are living in this millisecond (21st century).

It does not take long for you to learn that a cow can do that if you are a rancher. Luckily, I never had the experience, because I was forewarned from a young age.

Listening to that commercial on repeat for eternity would conform to my definition of hell.
