I hate it when I eat something and learn its ingredients after.
imitation crab meat - wheat, sugar, vegetable oil (the axis of evil) egg white
starbucks matcha green tea - powder is 50% sugar
I hope that we can share our list of food not to eat.

if we listed every food not to eat this thread would be thousands of pages long...
whats best, imo, is to eat in accordance with what science has shown so far will decrease disease rates and increase lifespan

What's wrong with pure, non-hydrogenated lard?

1. Pure lard
MMMMMMMMMM.... LARD
IMO I think it makes sense to continue this list of "bad to eat". We all know what is bad to eat,
but lots of healthy-looking things have hidden hydrogenated oils, sugars, AGEs, acrylamide
corn syrup (<- causes fatty liver, see LEF report) etc. etc.
Of course it's best to only eat self-prepared whole foods (and drinks) where this is
unlikely to happen. But still, if you have to eat out, avoiding hidden cr** is important.
Recently, I found that in the EU lots of whole-grain-only toasts and breads contain up to 20% sugar or corn syrup. Yummy.

I've found this list to be helpful in gauging the AGE content of foods. Butter and cheese are high. Olive oil is also high (http://www.newcastle...d AGEs text.pdf). I have no idea whether they tested cold-pressed olive oil. My guess is not. But even raw olives are mid-range. Roasted nuts are high. Bear in mind the lists pay no attention to the extent to which a food may encourage glycation once ingested. For instance, milk is low in AGEs but contains lactose, which breaks down to galactose, which is nearly as pro-glycatory as fructose. I've read estimates that roughly 10% of the AGEs contained in an ingested food are absorbed.

Hormone containing supermarket meats.
Non-organic dairy, also containing hormones/and antibiotics.
Trans fat in any foods.
Bad, processed carbs.
Food coloring.
Artificial sweeteners, such as Splenda (sucralose), Aspartame (nutrasweet), High fructose corn syrup etc.
hydrogenated oils of any origin.
Foods extremely high in sodium.
Fish high in mercury such as Albacore Tuna.
Preservatives, I.E sodium benzoate etc
Unfermented soy products such as Tofu, Soy protein isolate. Soybean oils. etc (note: I eat soy containing products two or three times a week, but I would recommend no more than this and only in moderate portions as excessive soy has been speculated to raise estrogen levels in men).

9. People
10. Beets
Actually, I think eating healthy, non-diseased human flesh would be extremely healthy. Also, what's wrong with beets?

Ewww beets man, that's just SICK!
They are the primary source of trimethylglycine, though.

I found the study disappointing. They did not test raw almonds, did not say whether the olive oil was cold pressed, and did not include bread crusts when measuring bread.I have no idea whether they tested cold-pressed olive oil. My guess is not. But even raw olives are mid-range. Roasted nuts are high.
It puts butter in a bad light. Given its high AGE content, butter looks to be very unhealthy. A discussion of AGE content often seems missing in conversations about fats/carbs/proteins in diet.

How many grams would that be? Looking at my 100% whole wheat bread label here in the US I noticed it contains less than 1 g of sugar, No corn syrup, and less than 2% vegetable, soy and canola oil.

Along these same lines, cooked meats contain heterocyclic amines, nitrosamines, benzopyrene, and other not-so-fun toxins.

I always heard that Beets are good in the winter to thicken the blood, and sassafras tea was good in the summer to thin the blood, and red-eye gravy is best with sourdough flatjacks and sorghum syrup. Also add one teaspoon of honey instead of sugar to a cup of coffee. I also like to add bread and butter pickles to my spam sandwiches for lunch.
