A mean-spirited, abusive hypochondriac sells his soul to the Devil in exchange for immortality, adding enough conditions to keep him out of Satan's clutches forever. He is puzzled when the Devil doesn't put up much of a fight, only stipulating an escape clause which allows the man to die if he so wishes, but doesn't worry too much about it.

Entertaining episode. Very deathist, though, and very irritating. Why didn't they choose to give immortality to a sane person? Of course, they'd have no interesting episode then, and they wouldn't be able to make their fucked up, ridiculous "point" that death is desirable. argh

i think whoever wrote this episode (serling?) was making arguments for both sides, but ultimately had to settle on the sensational ending (of course). i felt no worse about immortality after watching this though...but then again i'm rather biased in that regard.
