Hi Eva!
I have some micronized zinc (i have both the coated an the uncoated so don’t worry about this ) I want to mix in my sunscreen witch has the folowwing UV-filters

Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone ( aka Iscotrizinol, Uvasorb HEB )
Diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate (Uvinul A Plus)
Ethylhexyl triazone (Uvinul T 150)
Bemotrizinol (bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine, Tinosorb S by BASF and as Escalol S

Does anybody here know if the zinc powder would un-stabilize the filters or should It be OK to mix in?

Those filters are fine with zinc oxide, but your sunscreen is probably not. You can't just add zinc oxide to an existing sunscreen. It will likely ruin it.

Ruin it?
What do you mean with this? White cast on skin?
As long as the formula stays stable (not un-stabiizing the UV filters) i cant see a problem.

Ruin the texture. Zinc oxide may react with other ingredients in the sunscreen. Micropigments like zinc oxide need to be dispersed properly, or else you end up with a white cast. It's not all about photostability in a sunscreen.

Eva and everybody else.
What is your opinion on diluting tretionin with a similar lotion base, and using it as a "anti aging" lotion on the whole body in the percentage of something like 0, 0025%?
I've been trying to research, and i cant see people who uses it like this, other than people who are dilutting their tretionin and using it on their face.

I'm interested, what do you think about this sunscreen?

http://www.ratzillac...watery-essence/

UV Filters: Octinoxate, Tinosorb S, Uvinul A Plus, Uvinul T150...

Its "only" PA+++ but that isn't too bad, right? I don't really like the feeling of the ZnO sunscreen I'm currently using. It feels weird on my skin, is hard to remove, leaves a slight white cast... So I thought this would still be better than sometimes not applying at all cause its not nice to apply?

It should be highly photostable and as long as I don't sweat etc... should be ok to apply once or maybe twice a day?

I put some values into the basf sunscreen simulator (have no idea how much of what they're using though, can only guess) and the attenuation after a wavelength of 380 is heavily dependant on wheter the Tinosorb S is in water formulation or not... Do you think the sunscreen has decent UVA 1 protection?

Hi Vanity Fair,

I am fine, thank you. But very busy. And unfortunately I don't have time to be here at the moment.

Eva, what happened to you? I hope you are well

It is correct what SDXL says.

Eva,

Thanks for all of the advice you've provided here on this thread.

I fly for an airline in the US. Many of the pilots I meet have had to have skin cancers removed or have had other kinds of skin damage as a result of exposure to the sun at high altitude.

What would you recommend as the best sunscreen for my job to minimize the amount of harm to my skin while I'm up at altitude?

Thanks!

Hi Eva,

Welcome back!

Can you please tell us how your skincare routine changed since the last time you were here? Do you still use AHA 10%+Vit C + sunscreen in AM, and Tretinoin +Azelaic acid in PM?

I can't wait to try out your sunblock.  :)

And, if you have time, can you please answer the following questions:

1)   Can you share your opinion about microneedling devices (dermal rollers)? Is there any benfit in using them to make the actives penetrate deeper? For example, a HA-based serum with Copper Peptides.

2)   What is the best mositurizer for a tretinion-treated skin on the market, in your opinion?

3)   Does every sunblock (even containing 25% ZnO) has to be re-applied every 2 hours in any weather? What about if one stays indoors the whole day?

4)   Also, you have said somewhere that EU sunblocks are the best, but what about Australian sunblocks containing up to 25% ZnO? Are they still inferior to, say, the La Roche Posay XL SPF 50+ Fluide Extreme?

5)   Should an AHA/Skinoren product be used BEFORE or AFTER a Vitamin C serum?

6)   Are you familiar with any good lip balm with  UVA/UVB protection?

7)   Do you apply 2 inches of Tretinoin 0.05% on you face only or on you neck as well? 2 inches seem like hell of a lot of product for face only.

I would really appreciate your input! Thank you in advance  :)
