Digg this yo! An important message to all this holiday season about over-indulging in sweets/candy.

Colbert interviewed deGrey, Gupta interviewed deGrey, and I found this here, Colbert also interviewed Gupta about the "immortality" theme. Gupta wrote book about cheating death. Digg this if you like it, and most importantly, leave a comment, I did. This is a great opportunity for memeing through comment.

Great entries guys.

I dugg the last five, and commented on the last five.

Thats ten contributions from me to this team this month so far. Does anybody want to try to beat that? B0gger, Nevyl, Vgamer1, IMMORTUS, cyborgdreamer, Biopunk, mentatpsi, transcentity, Luna, exapted? The minimum is 3 to be entered in the volunteer prize drawing, remember that.

Also, remember all, Cerebral Cortex is leading the team. He'll be sending you memos, recruiting moderators for the sections and people for the team, and other things. If anybody wants to be a moderator for a section then let him know.

Oh, and CerebralCortex, I notice that the de Grey entry you put in to digg has already got 16 diggs even though you only submitted it 5 hours ago. Most still only have a few diggs.

To me this indicates that since de Grey has picked up in the news that hes being recognized more easily now in places like digg. This is great news of course, in itself, and because the many articles we are posting that have only a few diggs now, will be ready to go once more Immortality Institute stuff, and stuff about the indefinite life extension cause in general, all orgs across the board, start getting more attention, coverage, exposure etc..

For example, lets say that imminst is interviewed for USA Today, and gets a short peice in it in a few months. Ill bet you that most of the entries related to Imminst in digg would then go up by 10 to 200 diggs, and it all adds up as we go. We were already interviewed for La Repubblica, a big newspaper in Italy, about a month ago. I cant be sure, but I think that happened because a writer for La Repubblica probably saw us mentioned in a peice that referenced us in a New York Times article, and that writer is also a correspondant for some New York publications.

I just cant express enough how every little thing makes a difference and counts. Im sure many, maybe most of you already agree.

Ok since every few months or so I drop in and digg everything that makes sense to me, can I make a few suggestions?

1) Your digg list (the first post) is out of date (and should be organized by date anyhow). Hell, I'll even do that for you (without joining the team) if you need me to. Actually it may be best to split the threads by years, ie start a new stickied thread every year, so the first post doesn't get prohibitively large.

2) How about having someone select the "best" (lets say, easiest to read and understand?) links and include them in the newsletters that go out to members, in some sort of take action section? None of this is going to make a big difference unless you mobilize non team members to do the simple stuff (read and digg an article now and then) too. Mobilizing people to do a simple thing is probably 10x as easy as recruiting them (although from experience, turnout can still be poor, oh well). If you need someone to write and contribute this section to the newsletter (and maybe post it on the immortality institute forum monthly) I can do that too (again, without joining the team).

Well let me know if either of these 2 suggestions is useful.

Right now we are waiting on the constitution revisions to pass (hopefully pass) so we can have people in project leader spots so they can edit these topics, and a variety of other things.

One thing they will do is tweak and prune this list looking for out of date things like that, broken links and what not. We might start archiving them in 100 link topic blocks or something like that.

Yes, performing actions that will get more people go in to these list and digg is going to be a key part of this team. Once we get some cross fire action going, probably 3 or more people working in there per week rather than per month, then we'll start looking at ways to get more people going in to digg. Im not sure how we might do that. There may be a good workable tie in with the newsletter, good idea, Im not sure yet though. When we start dropping a bit more marketing on this place, which will hopefully be in the near, 2 years or less future, then we'll definitely have some numbers to work with that we will need to keep occupied with things like digging.

If you want to try out some ways to try to mobilize more now, then please by all means to give it a shot. Also if you want to help a bit you could go and number the new entries that havent been put in to the topic yet, youll want to find out if The Immortalist is in the process of doing it already or not though. Im not sure what you mean by, "by date."

Im not sure what you mean by, "by date."

If you do not organize your entries by date, a casual helper will have no easy way to tell where they "left off" last time they went through the list and dug a few entries.

By number isn't so bad though, but its a little bit more work. You first have to remember the number you left off at (rather than the somewhat more intuitive "when was the last time I did this?").

I usually put them under Health. Yes you can put them in other categories such as the general science section. When you are given the option to put your article in a certain category don't you see the options beside it?

Do you know how to use the Facebook with Digg option?

I don't have a digg account just a facebook account with which I can digg. Why do you ask?
