I'm usually averse to change, but I can get used to the new forums.

But, please, please, please get rid of that annoying logo thing. I'm not sure what the point of it is, besides to take up space (which is really bad when used on small monitors or netbooks).

The only thing that is accomplished by adding deadmeat's above comment to that floating icon is to show a complete lack of respect for those here telling you it needs to be removed.

It tells us that you don't care what we want or what we think.

I actually like the reputation system and I think, despite the potential for occasional misuse or abuse, over time it should average out to be pretty fair.

I do not like the floating logo on the left and I agree with other posters that its distracting.

Ironic that somebody voted this post of yours down as I see when writing this, I don't find any controversial content here that could be judged anyhow, up or down.

And yes, the logo is a villain.

For users that require an instant pseudo-fix to the floating imminst logo, use Firefox's AdBlock Plus add-on to get it removed.

Never really been a fan of reputation systems... it's too easy to get points by sucking up to people without actually contributing much useful -- even if the level of intelligence is in general high, as it is on this board. Also, the fact that there's political debate here means that points are gonna go up and down based on heated reactions.

Then again, I've never really minded if I have -500 points.

I find that the new layout is less efficient and for some reason the searching in titles only is completely screwed, is anyone else having this problem?

By the way, some of the old emoticons are trashed.

I remember putting this one:

And now looking back at it, it came out like this: ;)

Which is completely different...

Here's another case where a completely different emoticon, probably a tongue one like :p became the wink emoticon too ;)

Here's another example, originally something like :D, switched to ;)

Floating logos work best in headers or footers; it's part of the built pre-conscious processing of the mammalian visual cortex used to detect predatory behavior, I imagine. That's why so many fid it disturbing.

The logo looks much better now that it's anchored with a top and bottom bar and some text I still miss ready access to "join date" and number of posts. It helps with navigation duties, and opening a new window and scrolling around is a pain when I need the information.

Uh so I'm trying to make a post with a lot of just plain text links to youtube. and I get this stupid message that I'm trying to insert too many media files.

I'm not trying to insert media files. just plain text -.-'

Also evidently the advanced search feature is gone. Which means you can no longer search posts, only topics.

awful... why would you get rid of that...

I can't find the place to edit my signature. It would be nice to be able to add one.

I agree. Also how do you change your posting name? Am I just retarded?

Thanks

So I guess during the reconstruction those reputation ratings were not supposed to be shown. I thought that was kinda funny. So can we assume that we all still have a reputation rating?

Yes, we all still have reputation ratings, but they are no longer displayed.

I think it's great. Two things though:

1. Get rid of the thing on the left that scrolls down the page with you. If I need a menu bar, it's better for me to scroll up to the top of the page than to have vital vertical width taken up needlessly.

2. Once this is gone the right panel will display correctly as will the banners from our advertisers (without that big ugly re size box around them).

Massively big up to Caliban! :~
