I used phenibut several months ago and although it does have a noticeable nootropic effect, I also noted that it can come with some very nasty side effects.

So a few weeks ago I ordered some more, but this time got the bulk powder instead of the capsules.

Let me tell you, it has some use as a nootropic, but the side effects for me were very unwanted.

After the first few days I had an extremely unpleasant nightmare. While I believe all dreams (whether positive or negative) can be useful tools for self-insight, the one I had that night was one of the worst I've ever had. I had a dream that two different people were trying to kill me with these razor sharp ice shards. And I kept dodging their attempts at stabbing me, thinking they were just playing around. But several times they did stab me, and I could feel everything. Since it was ice, I felt initial pain, but then it quickly dissipated since the cold kind of numbed it. But I could feel every stab. And it felt SO REAL and I couldn't wake up! When I finally did, I was covered in sweat, and every place on my body where I had been "stabbed" in my dream was asleep due to circulation being cut off. It was so terrifying I couldn't go back to sleep.

I wrote it off as an isolated incident and it didn't really occur to me that it was the phenibut. The next night I had another dream where a girl was using me and when I discovered that she was a cold-hearted bitch (she cheated on me with someone else) I tried to leave the area I was and she promptly started to try to kill me.

It should be noted that most of my dreams are usually about someone or a bunch of people trying to kill me. It probably has to do with my distrusting of others, but it is actually pretty predictable now.

Then the other night I has another nightmare. People were killing me, over and over again. I KNEW I was dreaming, and tried my best to convince myself to wake up. Telling myself all throughout the dream that it wasn't real and not to be scared. When I finally did wake up, I had almost died because I had gotten a severe case of acid reflux which had gone into my lungs. I coughed for about 3 hours and couldn't hardly breath. Each time I breathed in felt shorter and shorter. I have had acid reflux for a long time, but never have I had it to the point where I almost choked to death. Needless to say, I've been very scared to go to sleep lately.

And I also understand the plot of "A Nightmare On Elm Street". Quick trivia on that movie: it was based loosely on a true story. A kid was so scared to go to sleep because of a "boogey man" in his dreams that he stayed up for several days/weeks. When he finally went to sleep, he died.

What I've read you shouldn't be using phenibut more than once or twice a week.
I suggest you to google phenibut withdrawal. Phenibut can be extremely nasty when used incorrectly. How much are you using?

Here are some of my findings of phenibut:
I also use it, I have 600 grams stocked. In my opinion phenibut ought not to be used as a "nootropic". I personally use it to relax.
I often take 1200-2000mg and I cook, watch a movie and have a great sleep. It's also very useful in social situations.
It makes me feel more comfortable and confident, just like having couple of beers without any haze like from alcohol.

I haven't had any bad experiences with phenibut, even when I'm taking high doses like 2400mg.
For beginner I'd advise to start with 500mg and work your way up to find your sweet spot.
Phenibut takes about two hours to kick in.

Yeah I'm familiar with the withdrawals. I was under the impression that if kept under 2 grams a day that tolerance and withdrawal wouldn't develop as severely. I take about 500mg 3x a day, for a total of 1.5 grams a day.

Before using any substance, I make myself an expert on it. I was aware of the nasty side effects of higher dosages, but was not expecting it to have such profound negative impacts on my psyche at such low dosages. It seems to have an idiosyncratic effect in me, producing anxiety and fear instead of tranquility and calm.

But it does produce a very pleasant mood lift ant general feeling of well being. Nothing profound, but I can tell that I do feel in a much better mood when taking this. And it works wonders for my workouts. I tend to get pretty focused and motivated while on phenibut.

I will be stopping this immediately. And if withdrawal effects start to surface I will follow a slow taper.

Just a warning to anyone thinking about using this.

For me, it's like setting up for an awesome, hypomanically charged day or two, in exchange for a shitty day or two (or longer) afterwards. First time I took a tsp of SP phenibut one night and felt drunken coordination the next morn. Don't remember the expected withdrawal later, but swore the effect was like delayed Meth once coordination returned.

Yeah, the prospects of the confidence and tranquil affects seem tempting, but the side affects and tolerance built up seem too dangerously widespread. Aniracetam seems to be effective in that regards currently.

I use SP phenibut once a week, every Friday, and I feel great. Helps me deal with the idiots at work

I'll use your thread to document my recent negative with Phenibut.

I took 1.5g last Friday. I felt great, enjoyed conversation more than usual, felt a nice buzz, though subtle. I slept well, then I woke up with a glowing feeling, felt mostly in my eyes and face that lasted for a few hours. Then it faded into nothing noticeable. Two days later (last night) I took 1.30g, along with a small glass of scotch. I was happy, but nothing uncommon, nothing I could attribute to the compound really. I then slept almost 8 hours (uncommon for me, I can't usually go over 6) and in a very deep and pleasant way. So far so good. But today I was groggy all day. I was dizzy when I woke up, as if I had to wake up at 4am, only it was 11:30am after 8 hours of sleep. This lasted all day, to the point of being worried. I thought I had weak pulse and low BP, but turns out I had slightly high (130/80) and I didn't stop yawning all day. I was almost sick of tiredness, had to stop driving because I did fall asleep on the wheel for a split second. Swapped with my friend and immediately fell asleep in the passenger seat (around 7pm) only after dinner the feeling of dizziness and grogginess passed.

I have ordered 100g, and I'll return it. Phenibut is not for me. I'd rather research other recreational legal drugs without this nasty side effect.

Are you sure that you only took 1.5 and 1.3 grams? The dizziness is normal the next day and should not last that long. The higher the dose, the more dizzy you can get the next morning.
