It's a natural source of carotenoids in supplements. Most of the safety studies that I've read on this fungus indicates that it's safe for humans, but I haven't seen any info on what happens once it gets into the human G.I. system. I'm a bit concerned that it may be a pathogen and become dangerous over time.
