Hi!

I was thinking about the time when my anxiety got worse and the only thing that changed in my life was taking the higher dose of whey proteine (dymatize elite). I take it every morning, afternoon, and after workout. It is almost 90 g of whey per day. Before I used to take it only 3 times per week (after workout), and never had similar problems.

By nature I have lack of confidence but is it possible that there is some chemistry in this type of food that can boost my anxiety level? Is it possible that there is something in the protein or some kind of the sweetener inside that can make me feel anxious from time to time? I can stop taking it, just to see the difference... but I was just wondering what do you think about this.

Some guys here have the same problem:

IMHO never use supplements with "proprietary blend" listed on the label.

According to your above listed thread the problem with dymatize elite is the stimulant blend. Try a clean new zealand grassed whey like BlueBonnet: http://www.iherb.com...000-g/9476?at=0
or this one
http://proteinfactor...d-whey-protein/

Quoted from the above thread link:
I was taking Dymatize Elite 12 hour protein and really started seeing some good results, but after a few months of that stuff (and loading up on it more and more) I started to have severe anxiety and my heart would race...I even had 2 panic attacks, and had never experienced any of that in my entire life. Kept trying to blame it on a stressful job until the timing made total sense that it was the protein powder!!! I went back to the ingredients and found Zytrix, "proprietary blend". I finally made the connection that Zytrix is made with ephedra!

According to this
http://www.squidoo.com/sneakyfoods
...it seems that hydrolyzed and whey protein concentrates, as well as bunch of other food contain MSG (monosodium glutamat)..., food additive that can cause anxiety and panic attacks.

Whey protein is also very fast acting amino acids that spike insulin levels.
