A daily diet that includes two quarts of milk and a quart of orange juice provides enough fructose and other sugars for general resistance to stress, but larger amounts of fruit juice, honey, or other sugars can protect against increased stress, and can reverse some of the established degenerative conditions.

Refined granulated sugar is extremely pure, but it lacks all of the essential nutrients, so it should be considered as a temporary therapeutic material, or as an occasional substitute when good fruit isn't available, or when available honey is allergenic.

For me refined carbs+sugar (e.g. cake)=bad, I can feel it
Also, this is contrary to all I read

And see what Danny Roddy does:

Well, first of all commercial cake is pretty terrible way to demonstrate the benefits of sugar. It usually has wheat, added iron, soy oil, etc, none of which are good for you.

Secondly, sugar will exacerbate any other deficiencies you might have. It increases metabolism, so you better have the vitamins and minerals to back up that increased metabolism.

So there are a bunch major "downsides of sugar" out there.
A1c, not really well correlated to blood glucose, more correlated to PUFAs
NAFLD, people who eat tons of fruit like the 30BAD people don't usually get fatty liver
and so on.
