Realistically, there is no reliable means of significantly improving intelligence. Sleep, a healthy diet, and exercise seem like the best ways of modestly boosting and otherwise maintaining existing intelligence.

However, there are way of increasing energy and improving focus, and this is where I'd like to pick the brain of imminsters.

Let's look for a list of items that:
1) Improve Energy, and/or;
2) Improve Focus

I'll begin with relatively well-studied examples...

For Energy & Focus: Rhodiola Rosea, Strattera (in some individuals)

For Focus: Methylphenidate

What other options come to mind?

Phenylpiracetam does both fairly well.

I hear this every so often, is this the consensus from experience?

It is the consensus from experience. The problem is that Phenylpiracetam builds a tolerance. I am also worried about cross-tolerance with other stimulants. Phenylpiracetam might work on dopamine somehow to exert its stimulating effects.

Primarily Energy:
Wellbutrin
CILTEP Stack
Caffeine
Bright Light Therapy
Tyrosine
N-acetyl l-Tyrosine (NALT)
ALCAR
Metabolites of Aniracetam (not aniracetam itself -- only the metabolites which appear after about 3-4 hours)
Aerobic Exercise
Yohimbe/Yohimbine (energy only; it does NOT enhance focus)
Sulbutiamine
Modafinil (may return impaired focus to normal, but usually does not enhance normal focus)
DHEA
Mucuna pruriens

Primarily Focus (but most of these can also provide some energy):
Methylphenidate
Amphetamines
Piracetam
Pramiracetam (definitely provides energy)
Oxiracetam
Phenylpiracetam
Noopept (?)
Meditation
Direct-current transcranial stimulation
Progressive muscle relaxation
Self-hypnosis
Nicotine

None of this post should count as an endorsement or recommendation -- always research and understand what you're doing to your body before you do it.

The bodybuilding supplement Craze, and the caffeinated Focus XT are other things that come to mind.
