hello everyone, I'm currently in high school and would like to ask a few questions regarding nootropics. Firstly I want to ask what would the most potent/beneficial nootropic be for me as a high school student.

Along with that I am thinking about buying some lion's mane mainly for the neural growth factor benefits it has. Along with that I also might consider ALCAR and Ashwagandha for an even greater effect. What do you guys think?

Don't know how you'll feel under Ashwagandha because I've never taken it. I have taken ALCAR and Lion's Mane for long periods of time and have not felt anything from either. I think there is a chance you will feel short-term benefits from ALCAR, but do not even try getting your hopes up about Lion's Mane when it comes to perceiving effects during a short-term basis.

I've been taking nootropics for three years since I was 16. Beware of buying into them. They are overrated.* A multivitamin, healthy fats, and exercise will you do more than any nootropic here.

*As I type this post on noopept.

I second the multivitamin plus exercise. But if you really want to take a supplement, I would recommend fish oil with high concentrations of EPA and DHA. It's basic, relatively inexpensive, and in my opinion highly effective. I use NOW's Ultra Omega-3 fish oil caps in my stack, because so far I've found that to be the cheapest with the highest concentrations of the above two fatty acids.

First off, beware where you get your Nootropics supplement from.
Honestly, you'll need to try out each Nootropic to figure out which one is best for you.

Aniracetam
Piracetam
Nefiracetam
Pramiracetam
Oxiracetam
Noopept
Sunifiram

Not in any particular order.
Personally, I have been taking Piracetam for about 1-2 months now and the effects are VERY subtle. But, I noticed it while I am trying to focus on studying for my next midterm exam (University). So far, I've been off Piracetam for a week.

During that week I have been off Piracetam, I have been taking Noopept and so far each racetam has their own pros and cons.
Noopept gives me that 'enhanced vision' feeling, very subtle though, and I am able to focus on the work hours at a time. Personally, for me, I have to be listening to music while on Noopept when I am studying because any noise from someone else will be very noticeable.

I can't promise you you'll have the same exact reaction, so you'll have to play around with it.

this is going to sound cheesy, but best thing you can do for yourself at your age is 1) don't use drugs/alcohol 2) always wear a rubber 3) try and not get a head injury (driving, driving with friends, fighting, etc.) and 4) worry about developing EQ more than IQ. EQ correlates much more closely to life success.

Thanks for all of the replies guys. I'm just wondering what experiences you guys had on lion's mane, along with the one posted above. For me I tried it for a week, and was taking 2-4 grams a day and it enhanced my mood, and helped me stay studying and motivated.

Not at all, your experience could be because of the dosage or the quality of the Lion's mane you purchased. For me I also never felt anything when taking 500 mg or 1 gram, however once i took 2 gram or more in one sitting I noticed an effect, and taking that same amount later in the day helped as well. I bought mine from Swanson's Naturals, and am planning on getting back into it.

Hah look at these guys. Don't let them discourage you. There are a LOT of people that benefit from nootropics.

Try small samples of each one and see what works best. Our bodies are all different and we react to the drugs differently.

Good supplement for a male though is Zinc. Highly recommend it.

Green tea pills and fish oil pills are great as well.

If you get those 3 supplements you're already ahead of the competition. Also, go lift weights. You feel awesome, plus girls will pay more attention to you.

DO NOT buy into this multivitamin BS. just eat vegetables and fruits. Multivitamins are crap.

You should always be taking some kind of multivitamin and obviously eating healthy and keeping your body healthy by working out.

Nootropics will work much better if you keep your body healthy. Try to avoid sodas at all costs.. even though I drink a lot. Almost addicted... anyways, just try eating healthy when you take Nootropics.

Multi vitamin + B vit complex + Omega 3

ALCAR + Alpha GPC + B5 (found in the B vit complex) you need choline as well as acetyle. Increases memory both short and long term
DLPA + Sulbutramine for increased dopamine which will improve concentration, motivation and increase energy
melatonin 0.3-3mg at night to improve sleep efficiency which will improve cognitive function
a raceteam is optional and all round helpful.

I like some of the idea guys, well except Cerebrolysin lol I don't think I could go that hard, let alone find a seller for it. Is it true headaches can ocurr from ALCAR and choline being mixed together?? Or does it happen based on dosage?

Avoid all junk foods such as: soda pop and other high sugar drinks, energy drinks, artificial sweeteners, Doritos/Cheetos and the likes, candy, high sugar/carbohydrate items in general, processed foods and trans fats (e.g. hot pockets, etc.), and anything soy based (soybean oil, soy milk, etc.).

Stay well hydrated, maintain a good sleep schedule, don't smoke weed or drink alcohol, don't masturbate often (no more than once every 8 days).

Incorporate weight/resistance training into your lifestyle. This will help you body and mind in more ways than are understood. But listen to your body and don't overtrain.

If you do all of these things, you will be far ahead of the curve.

For supplements consider fish oil/omega-3s, magnesium, zinc, vitamin k2, and a probiotic. Get plenty of sunshine to ensure optimal vitamin D levels.

^This. Spot on. Hell, if these nootropics were free I'd be much more willing to take them but the costs are way too high (at least for me), to justify a VERY subtle effect that can barely or cannot be distinguished from placebo. Prescription drugs are the way to go and can be tamed. Of course greater risk is involved for greater reward but don't be quick to knock down pharmaceuticals. Keep in mind when a drug doesn't work, people are naturally much more inclined to offer their negative experience on the web as opposed to when it does work. This especially scared me from SSRIs for a while but now I'm much more open to the idea of experimenting.

Is green tea good enough or both drugs are low in it?
