Once I did a complete vegetable diet for about three days, I don't remember exactly how I did it but I ate mostly vegetables, bread possibley and egg and after three days I remember feeling really energetic. Now it was not the tastiest thing available but I felt great. Exercising is not fun but you do feel great afterwards. I don't mean to put vegans down because done right I am sure they are doing way better than any other group of people.

Wow I feel bad leaving this thread alone for a couple hours. I come back and see massive flame warfare, lol. I appreciate some information from both sides, however. First of all, I am sure that B12 and zinc are available plentifully outside of meat. On the other hand, I do not believe that veganism is exactly "natural" given that humans have had to eat meat to survive in certain climates, especially during times where vegetation is unavailable. Personally I would advocate a diet with some meat, lean types like chicken, for an occasional protein source. Still, I would like done more hard evidence about meat being bad. I'm willing to try vegetables only for a few days, perhaps as a detox of sorts, then going towards less processes food.

Meat has little carbohydrates
Hardly any if at all vitamins, A, C, D, E and K.
Little to no folates, closer to no.
You will not be getting your calcium OR magnesium RDA from meat, Iodine, manganese, selenium also sparse.
Beware of microorganisms(campylobacter, shigella, salmonella), parasites and toxic substances, acidification of the blood, nitrogenous compounds like histamine, tyramine, which raise bp and produce allergies, bad stuff for the arteries and heart, the fat and the cholesterol, chemical contamination because bad chemicals are storehoused in the liver when you eat it you get that, like cadmium, lead, pesticides etc. Hormones, antibiotics, others (clembuterol), sedatives, antithyroids, anabolic steroids, beta adrenergic agonists.
