FREE and has potential to make an impact.

Basically:

Make a life extension group on www.myspace.com and promote it to be highly ranked by membership.

-Work to design a good layout
-Send invites to individuals in a target demograph to join the group (just a few clicks to invite someone to join)

This is what we would be up against for the top group position.
Top Groups by membership:
The O.C. 66,500 members
*Laguna Beach (The Real O.C.) Fan Club 57,836 members
[adult swim] 43,800 members
Make Out club 41,100 members
The Used Fan Group 34,268 members
looking for new friends 32,439 members
napoleon Dynamite 30,191 members
Green day 29,721 members
SUBLIME 29,487 members

Even if we open the eyes of one person, that one person may hit the Mega Millions lottery tomorrow, paying Est. $70,000,000 ;)

Goodness Ryan Bates is also there...

However, what's wrong with the community here?
Second- what makes you think that people who judge by a sexy avatar will turn immortalists?!

There is absolutly nothing wrong with the community here =). Just thinking to make a strong presence there with links back to here. Reach a different audience that wouldn't be reached.

I applaud the effort. Jeff started a different anti-aging group over at myspace and I contributed a few thoughts. New people were drawn into the discussion. I am sure some of them ended up joining here too. The audience is a bit different over there, but still worth the effort to at least get them thinking about immortality and anti-aging.

Awesome job Jeff! So many "until I get bored" ones to please Sou ;-) (You don't ask when they think they will get bored, though).
How difficult is that to see through that when you read the profile... How little hope does it take to make a swarm of people lie to themselves... Looks like you've found yourself a dead right memetic niche there.

Will you dance some Hula for us at SENS2?

Sorry, what is dance some Hula?

Hula = Hawaiian dance

However, well maybe it does help bringing few more individuals among, but I would not call it "Easy way to make a difference " because it is not easy and it makes no big differences.

I am struggling everyday explaining in forums, and to mates about all that and only VERY few gets the logic of all this, and the very most are just living with the hurting truth and not trying to change their lifestyle...

The question "What's the life's essence?" was brought to an Israeli forum called RasMi and I needed to calm the hell down when I saw the replies, pathetic really.
However, I tried a lot.
http://www.rasmi.co....topic=4447&st=0
At the end they deduced all I post is spam... Really sad, really...
If you could only read Hebrew and see that.

That's just another tiny step, nothing more, nothing less.

infernity,

It is not difficult to understand the concept that 'life is good' and 'death is bad' therefore people who are doing the mindless death walk are truly in a trance which doesn't allow them to think about the possibility of the escape. Your efforts in the Israeli forum, although they may seem to have fallen on death ears, have planted seeds, the fruits of which may not be seen for many years. (at least I keep telling myself that story when it comes to justifying wasting my time trying to break through to people)

In the same vein, those men following their 'instincts' will be exposed to a meme should they visit here and whatever their reaction, they will be exposed, and as any marketer knows, the number of impressions one makes is critical, true understanding is less so. The difference you make Jeff, large or small, remains to be seen. I've often said if we could only tie life-extension to the libido then *everyone* would get it.

Kev,
Yeah I suppose you're right, I think mrfesta is too ardent and might find himself disappointed, it will work, but won't make such big differences.

And yeah I know how frustrating it is talking with people already content with death and don't want to hear anything else. Unfortunatly, ALL of my friends are like that and it gets so frustrating trying to talk with them :(. I wanted to throw the idea out there for as many to see as possible, and those who are like us would gravitate here and hopfully make similar contributions. I thought of doing a blog/website but I choose the myspace because of the invitation system.

So basically my goal is/was to expose as many people as possible and find others that feel as we do, but don't know others exist.

Therfore, if the group had 20,000 members someone would be more curious to see what its all about more so than if there was just 50.

I'm willing to keep sending out invites but I'm unsure what I should put on the page content wise so any ideas for that would be appreciated. And yeah maybe I am too ardent, had to look that one up [thumb]

mrfesta,
MySpace is not for people under 16, and I am only 14 [mellow]

However, I believe I will soon get to intensive studies so I won't even have much time to the most important forum of the Immortality Institute, so I definitely will not have any time for another community, especially one where the VERY MOST are against it / not listening / don't care / etcetera...

But oh well, fine step.

Hehe, what is to prevent you from simply clicking "Yes I am 16" or something similar? It's like porn, "Click to Enter if you're over 18". How many people under 18 look at that and think, Oh I better not click that, I'm too young! ;)

Strippers won seats in parliament.

what makes you think that people who judge by a sexy avatar will turn immortalists?! -- Infern

In Italy and in Taiwan strippers had won seats in parliaments. If I search really hard, there must be others in other countries.

But no stripper dares run for the legislature in the U.S. and also most probably not in Israel, because they might meet with extreme prejudice -- I fear.

Italy is the home of the Vatican and Taiwan is outside Christendom.

Yes, someone will say, like Susma. Touche (with the acute accent on the last vowel, "e".

I almost forgot, addressing Mrfesta, your sexy Avatar is what I would call an erotic relief. Good idea.

Now Joel, it like, you gotta fill in you date of birth, and I filled in 1991 and then something showed up that I can't join 'cause I'm too young, and when I tried to change it wrote me that if I'll be found as under 16 my space will be removed.

However, it's not like will be a problem to create a space over there, it just I see no need in it and I'll have no time for it, an I want to be myself, I don't like lying about myself doesn't matter for what purpose, I want to be known as who I really am.

Well Susma, I more meant, people who hang around over there because of being bored and seek for pictures of sexy gals to have a contact with, mostly are pretty much the opposite of thinkers.

The only reason we are *ashamed* of our bodies and walking with cloth is, I believe, because some powerful element (rich or leader) was not please with his and commended everyone to do so .

I mean, why would we have a problem walking nude if there are no prejudices and our bodies doesn't look bad?
If it would have been so, like if we'd go normally naked, people would take care of their body because walking with cover would have been unusual.

My point is, most people who hang around over there are not a thinkers, and will probably not contribute to the process (if they won't make it inferior).

Yes, but Infernity, you don't have to lie to do what mrfesta is suggesting. You're already a girl. Of course, if you ever posted a picture like the one he's using, your parents would kill you. ;)

Well Joel, that would be lying about my age... never mind I already wrote the other reason of why I won't be there...

Moreover, hehehehe well they'd prefer I'd put this type of picture rather than a picture of myself...
I'd put my picture if they'd let me, but for as long as I am not 18, I can't heh. And they'd kill me only if I'd put my picture again [wis] ... (the reason I've removed it from my introduction).
But oh well, I believe their argues are correct :\

and no one wants to contribute to the myspace idea.....should I just scrap it?

also, what about The Longevity Meme Folding@Home team? We are now at rank 752 from over 780 a few days ago lol But with 38298 teams its not too bad I suppose.

And TWO of the 33 members came from myspace [:o] [:o]

Hehe, well mrfesta, about my age, they all are shocked in the beginning [tung]

Don't scrap the idea, I mean it is just another little struggle, another brunch of finding immortalists, so you can keep trying, who knows...

About the The Longevity Meme Folding@Home team, well I believe this is more serious than MySpace, it may work better, but I think one community is enough for me, especially soon, when the studies shall turn intensive.
And the Israeli forum, I think I will soon live, it's just few people there started to really like me and become good friends, maybe I can drug 'em here, and develop it over there.

One of the problems, is also the language, most are not settled down with English...
I tell them there is an Israeli sub-forum, but really, it is so tiny heh.

mrfesta, I'll PM you back when I return, I am going to swim a little, catch you up later.

No way, keep going, this is wonderful! I'm afraid that as an immortalist you've got to get used to do some things alone... We're a busy bunch, and everyone often acts as if their way of doing things is best. This is in the end a good thing because it creates competition and an idea has to be really really good before any heavy investment is made. 2k members is sure impressive and I suggest you wait a while, perhaps someone drops by who finds this good enough to be worth their time, otherwise try again when you have 20k.

Even if you stay alone, you will still know that you presented our cause to thousands of random people, which has to have some effect. Although I do not have the time to contribute, I am very grateful for your initiative!

Could I get some feedback on the format/layout of the site though? http://groups.myspace.com/4everyoung I'm fairly new to designing pages for maximum impact and don't really know what I should put there. I know a lot here have much more experience with this matter so I'm asking for some help with that. I'll keep doing the invites. Thanks.
