Hey everyone,

I have an interview tomorrow that will likely follow up with a drug test. Is there any risk in taking phenibut before my interview? I would like to take phenibut because it helps me maintain a calm composure and I think think it will aid the process.

So phenibut false positive? Yay or nay?

I'd opt for something else. phenibut is addictive and has some pretty bad withdrawl symptoms for if and when you wish to get off it. This is strange for a nootropic. So, I don't know why you're taking it in the first place.

But as for the drug testing thing, I would be extremely surprised if any drug tests look for phenibut. In other words, don't fret, bro.

Ya I understand the addiction and WD potential. I never use it more than once a week and I havent even done it more than a handful of times. I do enjoy the gentle calm it brings and I think it would be useful for my interview.

I would just be worried that it creates a false positive for something (Benzo, or something else). I know it is just GABA with a phenyl group so it in theory it seems like it shouldnt be a problem. But I know there are people out there that have been taking phenibut prior to getting a drug test and I would just like them to chime in!

Interview went really good and the phenibut was an excellent aid. I passed the interview now I just have to pass the drug test.

It may appear as baclofen if they test for it. Baclofen isn't generally considered a drug of abuse though. If the test is just for the standard Amp/Meth/MDMA (Phenylethylamines), Benzos, and opiates, then I would think you would be fine, but I don't know the specifics of drug tests.

Other than that, I think phenibut has a structure that isn't shared by drugs of abuse.

EDIT: I think you will be okay

Besides, even if you did show up positive, couldn't you just say "Ooo, I am really sorry I take this dietary supplement that has a similar structure and must of caused a false positive. My apologizes for the misunderstanding." Then again, perhaps I just do weird jobs where they don't care if I use cognitive enhancement.
