Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum, in fact this is the first time I ever subscribe and create a post in a forum. I am really interested in learning about nootropics and its benefits. I always had concentration and focus problems.

I did research for about a month before trying any nootropic and I follow the recommendations of trying Piracetam first... I bought Piracetam powder from Nootropic Nexus and Citicoline CDP Choline from Jarrow Formulas and Fish oil from Vitamin Shoppe and full spectrum ashwagandha 570 mg.

On day one I took in the afternoon 6PM:

800 mg Piracetam
500 mg Citicoline
1000 mg Fish Oil 300 Epa/ 200 Dha
570 mg full spectrum ashwagandha

I did not feel any difference besides heavy and deep sleep that night and waking up the next day at 6 AM which is earlier than usual (I wake up around 7:30 AM)

Day 2 in the morning:

1000 mg Piracetam
500 mg Citicoline
1000 mg Fish Oil 300 Epa/ 200 Dha
570 mg full spectrum ashwagandha

Again heavy and deep sleep, woke up earlier again today at 5AM.

Day 3(today):
As soon as I woke up I took (5 AM):

1600 mg Piracetam
250 mg Citicoline
1000 mg Fish Oil 300 Epa/ 200 Dha

I didn't take the Ashwagandha because I read online that it is better to take it at night, because it might cause sleepiness.

Anyways I woke up at 5 AM took my stack and then I was doing some reading for work but fell asleep around 6:30 AM and woke up around 7:45 AM and here is my problem...

Problem:

When I woke up I looked at myself in the mirror and I for some reason smiled. I noticed the muscles in the right side of my face had little contraction. I noticed my whole right side of my body had loss sensitivity and strength. I am really concerned about this. Does any one know if any of the supplements I took is known for causing this side effects? I don't understand...Also I've been taking Runa Guayusa Tea for about a week now, instead of drinking coffee in the mornings.

Thank you everyone for your time!

Luis

Why are you taking Ashwagandha / what's your goal with the stack? I Haven't seen much evidence of its use as a cognitive enhancer.

Nothing else you're taking has really any side effects like you described. As much as you don't want to hear this, it's probably just in your mind.

I am taking Ashwagandha.to improve my sleep. I always go to bed around 2 - 3 AM and sleep 4 - 6 hours, If i try to go to bed early, let's say around 9 - 10 PM i always end up waking up around 3 - 4 AM. My goal is to improve my concentration and focus. Ever since I remember I had issues focusing on something for more than 20 minutes. I like reading but it is hard for me to stick to a book, I lose interest on things really fast. I am about to go back to school in a few months to finish my B.S in Information Technology and I want to improve my concentration and focus before I start school. When in High School and College a few years back I always had issues studying for tests and I would wait a few days before my test to really study. I also want to improve my speech, as you can probably tell, english is not my first language and sometimes I have a hard time finding the right words when trying to express myself in english, (I can speak english fluently I just get nervous or paranoid about making a mistake if I choose a wrong word) It might sound weird, but the only time I would get really focus, contrated and find it easy to express myself in english is the day after I drink. I stopped drinking three months ago because it was becoming an issue, but I remember that I would never get a hang over instead I would feel really smart, my speech was really fluent in english, spanish or portugese, my focus, concentration and interest on things were just amazing. I have an IQ of 120 acording to some tests I did online.

As weird and dumb as it might sound, I just want my concentration, focus, and speech to be in the same level as it is the day after I drink heavily. Any input, feedback or suggestion is greatly appreaciated. Thanks!

Thank you for that I want to look more into that. I actually noticed it's the Piracetam that makes me lose strength in the right side of my body. Because it only happens in the first 30 minutes after I take piracetam, as it wears off it goes back to normal. But I don't know why it happens... i don't think it's a normal reaction....Thank you for your help!

You and us all, Haha.
A vast majority of people complain of similar symptoms. More so in increased numbers than previously. New studies are showing that the current influx of ADHD (if you don't subscribe to the corrupt pharmacy industry theory) is much more closely related to the environment than we had originally assumed. While I understand we all would prefer a chemical induced fix, if you're desperate I would consider reading The Shallows - Nicholas Carr (also audiobook). Neuroplasticity has your brain physically adapting to your environment, if your environment is the internet. You will begin to think like the internet. (in short ADHD-like bursts) This wrecks traditional concentration like reading a book. Anecdotally, I've carried out my own expeirences and when I'm away from the internet for 6+ days, I have boosts of productivity and concentration.

I just want my concentration, focus, and speech to be in the same level as it is the day after I drink heavily.

That result is decently documented. Check out these articles:

Why being sleepy or tired (no REM sleep if you're drunk the night before) makes you smarter.

Why a hangover makes you smarter.

So if you want to reenact that feeling, stay up all night.

I would wait a few days before my test to really study.

Like 90% of college students I've known. ;)

I have an IQ of 120 acording to some tests I did online.

I mean this in the nicest way possible; Online tests mean nothing.

Well at least now I know i'm not that weird haha and I can relate to all the effects described in the articles about the hangover. But can you suggest me a good beginner stack for studying Math, Physics, Programming, Computer Networking etc I don't think Piracetam does much for me. Well I think I should try it for at least a month before giving up on it, but It's been 5 days and no changes except for those weird symptoms.

@luissanchez407: It's interesting that I came across this post because I have a quite similar experience and was discussing it with my partner just today. I notice that whenever I take piracetam or noopept, within minutes of consumption I develop a mild but distinct weakness in my right arm. I experience this when I take either substance in isolation, and the sensation does not appear to be dose dependent. I take anywhere from 1 gram to 6 grams of piracetam and the effect presents at each and every dose. As for Noopept, I take from 10 to 30 milligrams and, similarly, my right arm goes through a brief weakness period shortly after ingestion. I also am becoming increasingly alarmed by this phenomenon and plan to do some poking around to see if there are similar experiences out there and, if so, if I can pick up on any themes.
