I'm prescribed Adderall for ADD-Pi, and just began on it again after a ~4 month hiatus, this time on a lower dose.

So yesterday I took my Adderall as normal, but mixed it with a caffeinated pre-workout supplement.. and about 5 hours afterwards, I began feeling very anxious and physically stiff and uncomfortable. I decided to take a capsule of bacopa to try to help the anxiety. I was expecting it to just reduce the adrenergic effects of Adderall and level it out, but what it did surprised me...

About 30 minutes after taking the bacopa, I felt 100% normal, like I didn't even take the Adderall at all in the first place. I couldn't detect any of Adderall's effects. The bacopa just completely obliterated it, and at a very modest dose (~300mg bacopa). I was relieved that the anxiety dissipated, but aso very confused that I went from horrific panic attack to baseline in such a short time, as if the attack never even occured.

This discovery is awesome, because it hints at possibly unknown neural mechanisms of bacopa. Perhaps it has some indirect, down-stream effects. I understand it is GABAergic and apparently blocks epinephrine, but I still did not feel any noticeable dopaminergic effects of the Adderall I forgot bacopa's full pharmacological profile....

Bacopa has also shown anti-dopaminergic effects in the striatum (location associated with Caffeine and morphine, and highly associated with dopamine induced locomotion) and prevented surges in dopamine when fed at a low dose of 5-15mg/kg bodyweight daily.[48] This anti-dopaminergic effect may be useful in situations of drug dependence[48] Additionally, one study measuring levels of dopamine in the hindbrain noted statistically significant (91% of control).[22 http://examine.com/s...acopa monnieri/

This is also cool because it might have some use for adverse reactions or overdoses of stimulants.

Also I should note that this happened to me before with bacopa+focalin, but I didn't correlate it with bacopa, I figured my stomach contents had just prevented its absorption.

Bacopa is amazing
