Microbiome as dynamical system

StevesPetRat's Photo StevesPetRat 12 Nov 2014

Probably posting this in the wrong place, any mods with a better idea feel free to move it... After feeding on oregano oil, bifidobacteria probiotics, grapefruit seed oil, caprylic acid, resistant starch, and xylitol, I got the funny mental image of my gut as some kind of crazy Darwinian hellscape. I'm a physicist by professional training, but in my undergrad years I did extensive research in dynamical systems (control of chaotic dynamics in pure and applied mathematics). The microbiome seems like a nice thing to model with a high-dimensional dynamical system. If any biologists from undergraduate to tenured level would be interested in doing a short project in this area, let me know, it could be fun!

If not, no hard feelings, and I'll go back to burning down my intestinal flora while fertilizing it with rocket fuel.

I meant "collaborating on a project" rather than doing it by yourself; too late to edit for clarity.
