Many professions (if not all) have something to do with some aspect of the aging and can be used for defeating it, or for removing the reasons for dying. The paradox is, that many people don't actually realize that, even though they are doing their jobs for decades, or even for the entire their lifes.

Using the professional skills of each one of the people, who want to live forever, in order to to push forward the science (concerning the job they are working) in the direction, that to improve the chances for us to live longer or never to die, can become a tremendous power that inevitably will make us immortal within our lifetimes.

The same is valid for the most of the things, that people like to do, the such called favourite things to do. They can be considered as working a second job, and getting skills in something else than your primary work.

So, if you want to develop immortality technologies, by using your professional skills, but you don't know how to do that, or how to use your free time to develop them, I'll do my best to give advices. The only thing, that I don't know is how you may make money by developing the technologies for immortality.

What can do a mathematician to improve longevity?

You may help doing medical statistics for finding risk factors for age related diseases. You may start researching the medical statistics techniques in your free time, and do such, when you think, that you are ready.

In technics, you may join some group, developing new diagnostic devices, especially MRI and ultrasound devices.

Nearly all research requires statistical processing of the information, so you may offer your skills to researchers, who are doing aging related researches.

I don't think risk factors research will increase longevity more than a very very very small amount.

But, yesterday I was thinking about this, and probably a mathematician can help finding new algorithms for molecular dynamics that greatly speed-up simulations of new drugs.

You see? :) Sometimes people may reach to the option by themselves. Choose something, that you think will help us living longer, and dedicate your free time in it.

Making statisstical processing for aging - related researches also is not a bad option. Researchers very often need someone, who to process their data.
