Pre-pregancy and pregnancy regimen

message's Photo message 19 Aug 2015

What is a good regimen besides a healthy, balanced diet for a pregnant woman or someone who is trying to get pregnant?

Friend of mine is trying to conceive.  Currently takes Garden of Life Vitamin Code RAW Prenatal vitamins - 1-2 tabs daily.  (http://www.amazon.co...ailpage_o01_s00)

She is in her early 30s and healthy.  Works out regularly as well.

Since no one else seems inclined to answer: she should have some source of clean omega-3s, and choline.  Algae-sourced DHA is free from mercury and is marketed for prenatal use.

I would see to that vitamin d levels are adequate - in this case I'd recommend sunbathing instead of supplements that some people absorb very poorly.

She should be sure to check her thyroid levels. If inadequate, she would have to supplement with synthetic or animal-derived T4.

Thanks everyone.

Why choline? and how much choline?

I currently have her on NutriGold Triple Strength Omega-3 Gold so that should cover mercury free DHA.  Blood tests soon to make sure levels are ok.

Anything else?

Fertilaid supplement... Contains chasteberry and works for some people.
