I noticed that injuries to the skin, including surgical procedures, tends to heal better if previously retin A has been used (let say for maybe a couple of weeks or so).
I don't really know why and maybe it doesn't make much sense scientifically speaking (science does not know why retin A do what it does anyway) but I did notice the effect in more than one occasion and it is quite weird I did never find that mentioned anywhere.
Preventing infections helps a lot in better healing and less scarring, keeping the injury covered in betadine until healed is a good idea.
Hyaluronic acid twice a day and DMSO do help to heal without scar formation, silicon plasters may be OK too, somehow magnesium oil seems to help with discolored scars
Topical BPC 157 seems to be very effective too.
