Chocolate may be more effective for a cough than cough syrup. The article seems to attribute it to codeine, but im not convinced.

Always wondered if Tianeptine would work for coughs as well.

 

I'm recovering from a cold and cough and just ate some 85% chocolate with my coffee and I have to say I have no cough, so maybe there's some truth to it.
