So because the suffering of ageing by your opinion is "natural," do you also extend this to other illnesses/diseases? Do you refuse all medical treatment because disease and suffering is "natural"? Probably not. Why should an unfair and painful killer like ageing be treated any differently? Humanity can get rid of the suffering caused by "natural" things and I believe that we should.

Perhaps your President Elect should be the petitions main target as he puts a broom through the establishment.

 

He also has a big stake in this, being your oldest ever President Elect.

 

It doesn't matter what your political views are, he represents an opportunity for change that will probably not present itself again for a very long time.

I didn't signed. I never sign change.org petitions. Anybody can create hundreds of accounts in change.org and sign hundreds of times. So petitions on that site have no real value and can be easily dismissed by governments and other bodies.

As far as I'm aware, that is why you are asked for your address. these petitions can and have changed things for the better though and any action is better than inaction.

Either way, these petitions have been shown to get results and I am signing because it is a small thing that has the potential to advance the cause.

It's OK. I've signed American petitions before.

So I'm going to say this once then move on to my little experiments.

 

 

         If you follow economics most of the developed nations are at a turning point. Population growth and replacement is falling. Most of the industrial world suffers from a lower then 1.6 birth rate. What does this mean? Well as the population ages the social systems are becoming overwhelmed. This means that governments will have a choice, mass immigration or find some way to keep the aging population working, namely by finding a way to restore youthful vigor to older citizens. In the west a lot of countries have opted for mass immigration as a solution because it's politically empowering for certain groups of politicians. At some point though some of the governments will choose to target the other choice, restoring vigor to older citizens. Once a larger enough group becomes aware that this is possible they will embrace it whole heartedly because it provides the superior solution. Aging science will be the savior of

many governments providing a way to raise the retirement age, reduce the cost of health care and education, while people will argue that this will make other expenses higher I'm pretty sure the wisdom of the centennials will prevail.

 

As far as signing petitions go ahead. Watch the birth rates and the level of education in the world, find a country with a low birth rate and high education level and I'll show you a place with very advanced aging science. This is going to happen just as a matter of evolution. My bet right now is Japan, or Korea.

Hopeful that Trump has the balls to smack FDA around and get them to recognize aging as a disease.

Several people have now reported this as spam on the basis that signing up for petitions gets one spammed with emails asking for their support. Some have referred to it as super spamming b/c it will bring about neverending email spam asking for all sorts of political contributions as well as your support for many other missions. I have to state here that this type of activity, while it may feel good is ill advised, and I liken it our mission doing drugs. Our donors will be badgered into giving to other missions which are completely unrelated and often counter productive to our mission. Our bleeding hearts will be sending their money to causes that most often develop inferior solutions or solutions that benefit people who resist our own movement and have lots to lose. We need our own email list, not someone elses, and the more I think about this, the more I have to say it is simply stupid. We don't have nearly the level of regular communications necessary to maintain a presence on these sites and won't use them to the extent that they grow our mission. We're making LongeCity look like a village idiot among nonprofits and we're being robbed of the attention of our supporters. People who sign this will later wish they hadn't or their concerns will be sucked up by less important causes or causes they might not even care about, but the messaging will be sent with such a frequency that you'll almost forget that you never supported this organization or their message and that your email just got sold, but they're saying they need your "continued" support. We shouldn't be doing this... these sites don't exist for the benefit of the people, but rather to their detriment. They exist to funnel people into the concerns that the owners of the most active organizations care for. If we're not going into this as a power player, we're losing, it's hurting us, we might as well be advocating bloodletting, b/c that's essentially what we're doing.

I would have.....but I don’t believe in aging, I really don’t.
So signing it would go against some of my principles.
