What, if any, are the are the implications of the fact that the creator of the Big Mac, who ate the burger regularly, has died at the age of 98?

Good genetics or other lifestyle regimens that offset the junk food.

My grandfather lived to 94, he was a smoker to the end, and he ate red meat, fried food, and high fat dairy.

On the plus side, he was physically active until his last couple of years.

I suspect he was long-lived in spite of his bad habits, and that being physically active also offset much of the negative effects.

AlephNull,

Agreed. I would add that it also reminds us that life extension efforts, although worthy, remain a candle held to the night of the universe. There is also the more mundane, but too often forgotten, lesson that studies predicting results for populations will never be reliable indicators for individuals within those populations.
