Absolute Pitch
mylo 28 May 2017
I have been trying, to no avail, to develop absolute pitch for the past couple weeks. I'm a musician who has been playing since I was 7, and have pretty good relative pitch. Recent studies state that absolute pitch abilities may lie on a spectrum and you can improve as an adult. I'm currently working on David Lucas Burge's Perfect Pitch Ear Training Course. Also, I'm playing Ear Training Companion.
I'd like to know if any nootropics could help on this journey. It seems HDAC inhibitors work for this purpose, but I'm having trouble acquiring any. Are there any acquirable substances in the United States that will help? Any substance that is an HDAC2 or HDAC3 inhibitor seems to be the most effective (this is pure conjecture though).
If it helps, Ear Training Companion has a lot of soft research on acquiring the ability here: [http://www.aruffo.co...arch/phase1.htm].
My current stack is as follows:
- Mood Enhancers
- Sertraline - 150mg (prescribed)
- Rhodiola Rosea - 500mg
- Cognitive Enhancers
- Adderall - 15mg XR (prescribed)
- Black Cumin Seed - 400mg
- Aniracetam - 1.5g
- Blueberry extract - 3g
- Misc or Multiple Effects
- Zinc - 15mg
- Fish Oil - 2200mg (1400mg EPA, 480mg DHA, 120mg Other Omega 3s)
- L-Theanine - 200mg
- B12 - 2000mcg
- Magnesium - 200mg
- Multivitamin Rainbow Men’s
- Maca - 2g
- Vitamin D3 - 2000IU

Keep the dosage used in the study in mind.
"For participants in the VPA condition, the regimen included taking 500 mg (two 250 mg capsules, one in the morning and one at night) for 3 days (days 1–3), followed by 1000 mg (four 250 mg capsules, one in the morning, one in the afternoon, and two at night) for 11 days (days 4–14), and taking 250 mg (one capsule) on the morning of the post-treatment assessment (day 15)."

the study on valproate seems only suggestive, not conclusive, of the idea that hdac is the main mechanism. if it were true, some seemingly random herbs would do the trick.. allyl mercapten in garlic, quercetin in red onion, and epicatechin in tea to name a few

I have not tried lsd while simultaneously trying to achieve perfect pitch. The valproate scares me because the side effects sound miserable. What drug is most likely to reopen the "critical period"? And that very well could be lsd

The side effects in the study was minimal.

I think the hdac medications are more potent than the herbs.

How's the progress, Mylo? As a fellow musician, I'm very interested in following your pursuit of perfect pitch.

Progress is slow, but I feel like I'm making it. The notes definitely feel as though they have a distinct quality, yet I'm still having trouble ascribing a label to each one. A few pop out at me, and if my relative pitch were better, I could definitely pretend to have perfect pitch that was rather accurate. I was just on vacation, so progress has stalled but I'll update more as things happen. How's the progress, Mylo? As a fellow musician, I'm very interested in following your pursuit of perfect pitch.
