Hello, this is my first post here but I've been a lurker for some time now. I'm looking for a bit of advice in regards to education. But let me share a little background first: I'm 23, and I just finished 4 1/2 years in the Marine Corps. Currently I have no college education and for the first time I feel the pain of choosing military over college as I look around and see folks my age working on their masters degree.
Anyways now that you know a bit about me, I have become very interested in the research regarding Blue Brain and other aspects of neuroscience. I'm also very interested nanorobotics and their later applications to the brain and I am considering pursuing the appropriate education to be a part of the research.
My questions are these:
1. I have a horrible High School GPA, not because I was unintelligent, just a bit misguided. like 1.7 low... However, I'm pretty confident that I'll do reasonably well on the SAT/ACT. But I'll likely be starting at a community college until I can build a better foundation. How much is studying at low end colleges going to hinder my progress in this field?
2. Given the interests that I mentioned earlier, what should I study?
Thanks!
