This article, http://www.scienceda...30415204911.htm, tells us that
our risk of death is increased by having a higher resting heart rate, irrespective of fitness.

Does this mean we should be working towards lowering our heart rate?

Thoughts are welcomed.

Yes.

I recently discovered that I had the unusual combination of low blood pressure (95/65 mmHG) and a resting heart rate of about 95.

I quit my chronic coffee habit and within a few days my resting heart rate immediately dropped to 80. So, now I have the blood pressure of a child or athlete and a high normal resting heart rate. However, I'm about 70 pounds overweight currently (only been overweight for 3 years), go figure.
