Lanosterol was recently reported to reverse cataracts. While we wait for the eye drops, are there ways to increase Lanosterol?

Squalene is a precursor to Lanosterol. Squalene is a principal component of Shark Liver Oil. So, I wonder if oral Shark Liver Oil could have any preventative effect on cataracts?

It looks like increasing Lanosterol biosynthesis may also increase cholesterol, since there's been research on Lanosterol synthase inhibitors to lower cholesterol. I guess it makes sense that statins increase the risk of cataracts.

Lanosterol might do some other cool stuff too:

Lanosterol induces mitochondrial uncoupling and protects dopaminergic neurons from cell death in a model for Parkinson's disease.

Let the sharks live. Instead of thinking of supplementing it, why not just put lanosterol solution into the eye? Apparantly something called lanosterol 93% is available online.
