Hi all, I wanted to see if anyone knew of or heard an alternative to the Calcium CT score that does not have any radiation.
I know the Calcium CT is the most accurate, non invasive technique for seeing if you have CAD. But I'm curious if you know of any newly developed, similarly accurate tests.
I know there was one study going around where they used iron nano particles and an MRI and produced fairly equivalent results. Any info would be helpful.

Plan B: suck it up using this defensive approach, and take the scan. I have a CT upcoming as well, so I've been putting a lot of research into this.
And... iron nanoparticles? Yikes! Sounds like a senile plaque nucleation accelerator...
Not that I'm not on your side. I just don't know of any alternative.

Find an EBCT scan. It has much less radiation than a regular CT scan. The EBCT machines are no longer manufactured, and not many were sold, but there are still a number in use around the US.
EBCT machines were economically unsucessful because cardiologists and hospitals make too much money from Cath Labs, and don't want those procedures replaced. They don't want EBCT scans cutting into their Cath Lab business, and the EBCT machines aren't good for anything else.
Regular CT machines are used now at a much higher radiation dose. Hospitals are happy to keep their machines as busy as possible, and cardiologists couldn't stop there purchase.

There is a blood test called Corus CAD worth looking into.
