I know there have been posts asking what is the "best" multivitamin but I do not think that there has been a poll asking what multivitamin people take.

So just for the record vote for the multivitamin that you take and if you have time to justify your choice do so.

Hopefully this poll will help newcomers and curious members choose a multivitamin that suits their needs and budget.

EDIT: Bummer I forgot to add Source Naturals Life Force Multi.

AOR Ortho-Core. The main reason I take it is because of the confidence I have in the research behind its formulation. The 300mg of chlorophyllin is a huge plus. Inclusion of PQQ and lithium, an essential vitamin and mineral respectively that are available in no other multivitamin. Bioavailable forms of nutrients are used. All eight vitamin E tocopherols and tocotrienols are included. No arbitrary, excessive, or potentially imbalancing dose of any nutrient. Relatively affordable.

Ortho-Core, for the same reasons that Funk mentioned.

NOW Adam
I look at people who drink and smoke, don't eat any veggies and still live like me, so what difference does it make adam or ortho core ;)

I take 6 ortho core per day. I was taking a cheapo generic but after hundreds of posts telling me that ortho was better and well worth the money, I broke down and took the plunge. The caps are not huge, btw. They are about 00 sized which is not bad. I can take 4 or 5 - 000 caps at a time or 8 - 00 without gagging. Take them one at a time if you like.

I take it because it has resveratrol which I would otherwise have to buy separately. It has the good forms of several vitamins such as E. It's a little short on some minerals and so on but makes a good starting point. I also take several minerals and a number of supplements.

You can always open the caps and add them to whatever you're eating. I can't imagine them tasting very good, though.

I take LEF's mix as there are a lot of substances in it I would otherwise supplement individually.
As the result of my gained knowledge lately, thanks to imminst, I will switch between LEF and ortho-core on a day by day basis soon.

Americans may take too many vitamins, experts say"

This just in....the media may actually publish false or midleading sensationalistic information. [Opales probably bribes them to do so]

Great poll! I voted Ortho-Core, I just generally feel very good on Ortho-Core at 5-6 caps/day and I'm *thrilled* to have found such well balanced product! /rave almost over.
It is brilliant you really can fine-tune your optimal intake depending on individual conditions/requirements and stack it perfectly fine for additional vitamins.

A bonus: It would be impossible to catch a cold while on Ortho-Core. /rave completely over. :)

Is taking supplements prescribed by the bible and is Opales defending buddhism on the view of taking supps?
In other words, I have not been aware that medical sience has become a religious subject up until recently....
But hey, even my view on the wordly mattters may be to optimistic.

I've always valued the imminst community for its open mindedness.

[huh]

Sorry, could not resist bringing this up since this seems a right moment to do so.

I selected other. I take one tablet of Solgar Solovite Multivitamin a day, after dinner with my other supplements. They are in a herb and mineral base and are iron free :) .

I buy both the LEF mix and Ortho-Core, and mix them together 50/50. Not sure if this is smart, but each mix has its strengths and so I try to get the best of both. I HATE that Ortho-Core uses sucralose (Splenda). This is a serious blunder/mistake/goof-up/etc., but I'm putting up with it despite knowing better.

So.... what about a store brand multi vitamin (ie, Shop Rite).

Am I somehow killing myself while at the same time thinking I'm being healthy? Or is the store brand just "not as good", but still relatively good?

Don,

Make sure it has no iron in it.

If you'll post a link or list the ingredients we can comment.

Yeah, duke: I first learned of this from one of your postings here -- a few months ago. I was surprised to read that too.

I don't think there is any evidence that Splenda® is harmful -- however, we have no evidence that suggests it is safe for long term use in humans. We may have mega dose statistics from rats and mice, but as far as long term use safety statistics in humans -- I am unaware if any exist.

Scott's right. Men don't want any extra iron than we already get. I think it might be linked to higher rates of prostate cancer?

Duke, you mean the Essential Mix contains sucralose? I don't think Ortho-Core does.

Yeah, it's Essential Mix that has sucralose. I've never seen Ortho-Core available as a powder.

Initially I took Pioneer 1+ but then switched to Now Foods Adam just recently.
If I'm not taking a lot of supps I'd be buying Ortho Core. I recommend Now Adam or AOR's.

now ADAM has a healthy dose of saw palmento in it... i dont know how that will react in a young mans body. it MIGHT not be a big deal, but i would probably stay away unless youre 35+

i ran out of my pioneer 1+, so i went to the store to see if i could find something similar but with a better vit-E profile... and i found a multi by inVite... i actually like it better than the pioneer, although it is slightly more expensive. i think its got the best ingredient profile of any basic multi ive seen... the company also meets my rather strict standards for assaying amounts and purity.

Hi!

I´m a spanish girl , 25 years old. I just buy LEF MIX, but i don´t know if is the best for me... any suggestions?

Sorry for my english.

Thanks!! [thumb]

I am taking the Ortho Multi Basics. 3/day is more than enough for me, and I'm already taking most of the extras in OrthoCore as separate supplements (or specifically avoiding them). I'm very happy with it.

Major differences between Basics and the Core (as far as I can tell at a quick glance):
*******************************************
Phytonutrient Complex
Pomegranate extract (40% Ellagic Acid)…… 100 mg *
Chlorophyllin Complex………………………………… 150 mg *
Trans-resveratrol………………………. 1.8 mg *

Biotransformation Conjugates
R(+)-Lipoic Acid……………………………………………… 150 mg *
Co-enzyme Q10 (ubidecarenone)…………………………… 30 mg *
Green Tea Extract (45% EgCG; 1% caffeine)…… 500 mg *
Trimethylglycine (TMG HCl)…………………………… 500 mg *
N-Acetylcysteine (NAC)……………………………….. 200 mg 10%
*******************************************

For those who take the "Core", especially those at a 2/3 does, do you also supplement with extra ALA, CoQ10, pom, etc? I've also been wary of NAC because of a one or two negative studies. Is everyone here still comfortable with NAC?

I decided to have a custom multi made by CustomCapsule.com. The choice works out real well, I take fewer capsules and capsules are easier on my tummy than pills. I was pleased that for almost all of the ingredients, the CustomCapsule selection was the exact form I wanted. (that means K2, D3, and no metal oxides).

Ortho-Core for the same reasons.

I take 6-8 a day, usually don't take them in the weekend.

That multi looks really solid all around. Too bad it has niacinamide.
