Another one is Centrum (or multicentrum in Italy)...

My opinion ? Waste of money... too low dosis... and in some case too much vitamine A

I now take each day 1 of LEF MIX with copper (14 tablets a day suggested) and 1 of Daily3 (3 tablets a day suggested)

http://www.supersmar...ivitamine--0063

I've calculated I've all I need we no too much... (B1, Selenium, Chromium and even folic acid just enugh)... no iron and litlle copper and no much zinc.

I add then vitamine c, k, d3...

Polls like this are popular and fun to participate in. But they only mention a few products and some popular ones get missed out. Like I use a multi-vitamin called MultiVescence – it’s not on your list. I like this because it is an effervescent multi-vitamin. I find an effervescent vitamin brings a relief to the boring pill-taking regimen each morning. I can add MultiVescence to my fruit juice or any beverage. The other reason I like it is because it has a broad spectrum of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, L-glutamine and bioflavonoids for supporting immunity and CoQ10 for supporting the heart and brain. So I’ve pretty much got all the nutrients I need with MultiVescence.

For the people who take AOR Ortho-Core:

Where do you get it? I see it has to be imported in to the US. Which, in your opinion, is the best supplier?

Thanks

I get mine (Multibasics 3 but ortho core is also available) from http://www.nationaln...il.aspx?ID=2567

Shipping to Australia (Melb) is quite cheap but it does take a very long time to arrive (around 8 to 10 weeks). Bear in mind the price is in Canadian dollars which makes it quite a bit cheaper than the US one. I suggest ordering well in advance of when you will need it - that way you don't run out before it arrives.

Not sure if you are still looking for a 100%-ish RDA, but here is one:
http://www.carlsonla...mini-multi.aspx

I've been considering trying it, something like EOD, until the Imminst multi comes out. Either that, or just get a generic sort of USP multi for now, at half a tablet.

Only downside to the above multi is it's most likely synthetic beta carotene and under the ingredient list (found on another site) -- http://www.swansonvi...N039/ItemDetail -- they list dulse. And I'm not sure if dulse is the cleanest thing to have in a multi. Guess if it's from a clean source and tested, it should be okay though.

Other ones I have found that are semi-decent are:

Thorne's children's multi --
http://www.iherb.com...Caps/18435?at=0

Actually not that bad at around half a dose, except for iron. Not a lot of iron in it, but more than I prefer.

And oddly enough, LEF Mix, but the children's version (one tablet/daily)--
http://www.iherb.com...lets/16061?at=0

Not optimal forms of minerals, or RDA levels for each, but it is probably a better formulation and safer than their adult version.

And I'd normally use AOR multibasics, but don't feel like paying a fortune, having to order from Canada, and being unsure if they have the updated folate versions in stock yet.

My cheap multivitamins look like placebo, taste like placebo unless you chew them and contain enough iron to make me wish they are placebo.

The last multivitamin I took was Flinstones chewables, way back in the 80s. ^_^

But I'm trying to get my parents to stop taking Centrum (mostly because everyone on the board thinks so little of it that they didn't bother to say anything besides "it sucks"). So I guess it's time to stop being a Flinstones Kid and figure out which of the current options makes the most sense.

Yeah you're right, what I really want is something which tastes like placebo too, YABBADABBADOO! :D

I hope Flintstones still make the most sense, although my spider sense and common sense says no.

There are just so many variables in the form of ingredients to consider when choosing a multivitamin. When researching a normal supplement you just have to look at one ingredient and look at the interactions with the stuff you're already taking, in this case you have to consider so many factors: what are my own values, my diet, which vitamins and minerals interact with each other, what are the optimal values according to the data and so on.

I think I'll just shrug and go with the hive-mind on this one and go for Ortho-core (or the Imminst multivitamin) although a cheaper alternative would be welcome. These seem to be the choices of many intelligent people who have done their own research, I'm not usually someone who trusts authorities in general but in this case my laziness justifies it. Let us know of your own conclusions when you decide chrono. I'd like to know which one delivers the most in the terms of price/performance.

Still suffers from the same thing that 95% of all multis do: folic acid. Come on manufacturers, is it really so hard to use folinic acid or methylfolate?

This is my current multivitamin. It is dirt cheap, any opinion as to it's contents? I take extra D3. From a glance there seems to be no magnesium and too much iron. Is it at least ok?

I really like the kids multi-vitamin of Jarrow Formulas. I take one Jarrow Formulas Kid Bear Kids Multi tablet daily, which means 120 servings from one bottle. My diet is already excellent, so I don't want to take a full dose of any adult multi-vitamin. I do dislike some of Jarrow's choices (copper oxide, non-mixed vitamin E), but then again, it's hard to find the perfect multi-vitamin.

By the way, I like LEF's powdered multi most, since it doesn't come with the additives necessary for tablet or capsule production, moreover it can be easier dosed just as needed.

If one isn't concerned about possible statistical harm from folic acid, it's old formula would be available at a reduced price till September 13.

I am about to order one of these three
for my elder brother.

I've noticed that Iherb is not complete
with the stocks of the various sizes of
most of their supplements, having only
the bigger sizes such as 120s and 180s.

That can be a disadvantage and expensive
when one prefers to order a smaller size,
especially when trying out a new product,
or buying several types of supplements in
the same order.

Like Orthorexic I'm now using a children's multi, Byron Richards'  Super Mini-Multi.  Two small capsules daily provide ~50%DV of most everything you'd want covered.  Of course I supplement this supp w/ the usual suspects D3, Mg, K2, etc

I'll be trying VImmortal next.
