I was wondering if the concept of using open space as a place to conduct extreme amounts of computing has been considered before. Space is supposed to be cold, so that is probably the biggest pro to use, huge amounts of computing with not so much cooling (if I am thinking about it right, although space being cold confuses me as there is no other matter to take the heat away, so it should all be radiant). Anyone ever heard of anything about this? Dont know how much of a problem power would be, I remember nasa conducting that test to see if they could get an electric current from the earths magnetic field.

The computers would have to be designed to radiate heat away, instead of conducting heat away like they are today. I think that would lose us 3D density to the processors, which is what we're trying to incorporate today. However, with chips, it could work alright.
